Quantization of gravity is a formidable challenge for modern theoretical physics. Ultraviolet divergencies are the problem. In 1974 the author used functional integral formalism for the quantization. The background formulation helped to solve the problem in one loop approximation. The author proved that the divergencies cancel on mass shell, because of Einstein's equations of motion.

We analyze the quantum discordQ throughout the low temperature phase diagram of the quantum XY model in transverse field. We first focus on the T = 0 order–disorder quantum phase transition QPT both in the symmetric ground state and in the symmetry broken one. Beside it, we highlight how Q displays clear anomalies also at a noncritical value of the control parameter inside the ordered phase, where the ground state is completely factorized. We evidence how the phenomenon is in fact of collective nature and displays universal features. We also study Q at finite temperature. We show that, close to the QPT, Q exhibits quantum-classical crossover of the system with universal scaling behavior. We evidence a nontrivial pattern of thermal correlations resulting from the factorization phenomenon.

We show how the remotest sites of a finite lattice can be entangled, with the amount of entanglement exceeding that of a singlet, solely through the dynamics of an ideal Bose gas in a special initial state in the lattice. When additional occupation number measurements are made on the intermediate lattice sites, then the amount of entanglement and the length of the lattice separating the entangled sites can be significantly enhanced. The entanglement generated by this dynamical procedure is found to be higher than that for the ground state of an ideal Bose gas in the same lattice. A second dynamical evolution is shown to verify the existence of these entangled states, as well entangle qubits belonging to well separated quantum registers.

A review is given of some aspects of the Riemannian geometry of quantum computation in which the quantum evolution is represented in the tangent space manifold of the special unitary unimodular group SU(2ⁿ) for n qubits. The Riemannian right-invariant metric, connection, curvature, geodesic equation for minimal complexity quantum circuits, Jacobi equation and the lifted Jacobi equation for varying penalty parameter are reviewed. Sharpened tools for calculating the geodesic derivative are presented. The geodesic derivative may facilitate the numerical investigation of conjugate points and the global characteristics of geodesic paths in the group manifold, the determination of optimal quantum circuits for carrying out a quantum computation, and the determination of the complexity of particular quantum algorithms.

The predictions of the Quantum Theory have been verified so far with astonishingly high accuracy. Despite of its impressive successes, the theory still presents mysterious features such as the border line between the classical and quantum world, or the deep nature of quantum nonlocality. These open questions motivated in the past several proposals of alternative and/or generalized approaches. We shall discuss in the present paper alternative theories that can be infered from a reconsideration of the status of time in quantum mechanics. Roughly speaking, quantum mechanics is usually formulated as a memory free (Markovian) theory at a fundamental level, but alternative, nonMarkovian, formulations are possible, and some of them can be tested in the laboratory. In our paper we shall give a survey of these alternative proposals, describe related experiments that were realized in the past and also formulate new experimental proposals.

A very explicit analytic formula of the separability criterion of two-party Gaussian systems is given. This formula is compared to the past formulation of the separability criterion of continuous variables two-party Gaussian systems.

The connection between Yang–Baxter system and quantum information has been discussed. Based on the topological basis for both Temperley–Lieb (TL) algebra and Birman–Wenzl (BW) algebra the representations of N by N braiding matrices associated with the corresponding N² by N² ones are obtained. Some of physical consequences of the braiding matrices connecting with quantum information are shown.

The monogamy of entanglement is one of the basic quantum mechanical features, which says that when two partners Alice and Bob are more entangled then either of them has to be less entangled with the third party. Here we qualitatively present the converse monogamy of entanglement: given a tripartite pure system and when Alice and Bob are entangled and nondistillable, then either of them is distillable with the third party. Our result leads to the classification of tripartite pure states based on bipartite reduced density operators, which is a novel and effective way to this long-standing problem compared to the means by stochastic local operations and classical communications. Furthermore we systematically indicate the structure of the classified states and generate them. We also extend our results to multipartite states.

In this paper we discuss the properties of the reduced density matrix of quantum many body systems with permutational symmetry and present basic quantification of the entanglement in terms of the von Neumann (VNE), Renyi and Tsallis entropies. In particular, we show, on the specific example of the spin 1/2 Heisenberg model, how the RDM acquires a block diagonal form with respect to the quantum number k fixing the polarization in the subsystem conservation of S_z and with respect to the irreducible representations of the S_n group. Analytical expression for the RDM elements and for the RDM spectrum are derived for states of arbitrary permutational symmetry and for arbitrary polarizations. The temperature dependence and scaling of the VNE across a finite temperature phase transition is discussed and the RDM moments and the Rényi and Tsallis entropies calculated both for symmetric ground states of the Heisenberg chain and for maximally mixed states.

We discuss the analogy between soliton scattering in quantum field theory and black hole/wormholes (BH/WH) production in ultrarelativistic particle collisions in gravity. It is a common wisdom of the current paradigm suggests that BH/WH formation in particles collisions will happen when a center-mass energy of colliding particles is sufficiently above the Planck scale (the transplanckian region) and the BH/WH production can be estimated by the classical geometrical cross section. We compare the background of this paradigm with the functional integral method to scattering amplitudes and, in particular, we stress the analogy of the BH production in collision of ultrarelativistic particle and appearance of breathers poles in the scattering amplitudes in the Sin–Gordon model.

Neutral excitations present in the repulsive regime (1/2 < β²/8π < 1) of the sine–Gordon/massive–Thirring model and its study of the massless limit by the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz is revisited. At β²/8π = 1-1/(p+1) the solitons become infinitely heavy, forcing truncation to the neutral excitations alone. The central charge in this limit is calculated to be c = 1-6/p(p+1); the mass and S-matrices of the truncated theories are identified as those of the minimal conformal theory M_p perturbed by the ϕ_{(1, 3)} operator.

We introduce and study a certain class of nonhomogeneous quadratic algebras together with the special set of mutually commuting elements inside of each, the so-called Dunkl elements. We describe relations among the Dunkl elements. This result is a further generalization of similar results obtained in [S. Fomin and A. N. Also we describe a few combinatorial properties of some special elements in the associative quasi-classical Yang–Baxter algebra in a connection with the values of the β-Grothendieck polynomials for some special permutations, and on the other hand, with the Ehrhart polynomial of the Chan–Robbins polytope.

Given a (2N-1)-dimensional projective space over GF(2), PG(2N-1, 2), and its geometric spread of lines, there exists a remarkable mapping of this space onto PG(N-1, 4) where the lines of the spread correspond to the points and subspaces spanned by pairs of lines to the lines of PG(N-1, 4). Under such mapping, a nondegenerate quadric surface of the former space has for its image a nonsingular Hermitian variety in the latter space, this quadric being hyperbolic or elliptic in dependence on N being even or odd, respectively. We employ this property to show that generalized Pauli groups of N-qubits also form two distinct families according to the parity of N and to put the role of symmetric Pauli operators into a new perspective. The N = 4 case is taken to illustrate the issue, due to its link with the so-called black-hole/qubit correspondence.

Monogamy of entanglement is a quantum mechanical property that limits quantum correlations shared among many parties. In an example strongly interacting spin system we examine approaches for approximating the ground state energy both from above and below by mean-field and N-representability methods, respectively. Due to strong competition among the terms in the Hamiltonian, the resulting ground-state wavefunction, although is entangled, does not possess entanglement that is proportional to the system size, thus obeying the monogamy of entanglement.
