The Development of Perturbative QCD

The present book consists of a selection of review articles, talks and lecture notes on Perturbative Qunatum Chromodynamics (PQCD) which spans the whole period — the last 20 years — over which this subject has been developed. Out of the many similar articles I have written at different times I have carefully selected seven of them. My main purpose is to provide a volume that can be read as an introductory text on PQCD. The selection criteria were designed for that goal. Frist, the set includes a few of those review papers that I consider among the most systematic and significant ones that I have published on the subject. Second, I tried to have only a minimum of repetition and a maximum of completeness. Third, I tried to focous mostly on aspects of current interest and, at the same time, to offer a cross section of the situation of PQCD at diffrent crucial times during its development. Finally, in order to update the content with the latest development, I added to each article a set of notes where, besides a number of general comment, present experimental data are described together with the most relevant theoretical advances (if not contained in the following papers of this same collection)…
