All material published by World Scientific Publishing and Imperial College Press is protected by copyright. This page provides copyright and permission information related to journals and books, including how it applies to subscription and open access materials.

The type of permission required depends on the type of materials and their intended usage.

Please note:

  • Permissions cannot be granted verbally.
  • Except for materials under certain Creative Commons licenses:
    • electronic permissions (excluding e-books) can only be granted for one year or semester depending on the request. As a precaution, the material must be protected by security software that protects the work from being copied, downloaded or printed.
    • please note that permission will not be granted if you wish to reproduce more than 20 percent of our original material.
Creative Commons Licenses

There are different types of Creative Commons licences. These open access licences remove some of the restrictions applied by copyright law, so that content published under them may be used without explicit written permission from copyright owner under certain conditions.

STM Permissions Guidelines

World Scientific is a signatory to the the STM Permissions Guidelines. This is an agreement between STM Signatory Publishers allowing reuse of small numbers of figures and small amounts of text of one Signatory Publisher in a journal article or ebook published by another STM Signatory Publisher, free of charge.

Reprint Permission / Reproduction of copyrighted materials

If you are requesting for permission to reproduce book chapters/articles, excerpts, image/photo/illustration/table/figure published by World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte Ltd and Imperial College Press books or journals, and unless the requested materials is under CC BY license:

  1. Please apply via Copyright Clearance Center Inc.'s website.
