Sales and Marketing

World Scientific has a strong global marketing and sales team working out of its offices in New Jersey, London, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and Singapore. The marketing and sales personnel in each office are part of our Global Marketing System, where each office plays a crucial role in ensuring that your book is promoted globally.

Our marketing activities cover the entire range, including direct mailing of promotional materials to targeted prospects, sending book reviews, advertising in relevant publications, participating in international book fairs and conferences, working with our booksellers and sales representatives worldwide, Internet marketing, selling of language rights for selected books as well as close collaborations with authors.

  1. Direct Mail
    We send out more than a million promotional materials to our various mailing lists annually. These include customers, conference participants, researchers, lecturers, librarians, booksellers and sales representatives worldwide. Our promotional materials sent include:

  4. Working with Booksellers, Librarians and Sales Representatives worldwide
    Sales and marketing staff from our various offices worldwide make frequent visits to booksellers and librarians to update them on our latest publications and ensure that they are sufficiently stocked. For countries where we do not have offices, we work closely with our on-site sales representatives and distributors.
  5. Internet Marketing
    Our Internet marketing team conceptualizes, designs, programs and implements new online marketing strategies and campaigns regularly. New ideas to promote our products online are constantly being formulated and implemented. The following are some of the online activities that we carry out for new titles:
    • Your book will be uploaded to all our websites as and when it is ready.
    • Where available, sample chapters of your book will be provided online for customers to get a feel of the book.
    • Upon your approval, the book page is also cross-linked to your website.
    • Your book will be highlighted on the website as 'newly published' during the month of publication.
    • Information on your book will be provided to all online booksellers and their distributors such as Amazon.com, B&N.com, BookData and lngram.
    • We will make announcements of your book in relevant newsgroups.
    • Your book will be promoted as a "related book" in relevant journals on WorldSciNet.
    • Your book will be promoted through subject e-mail newsletters.
    • Where relevant, your book will be promoted through WorldSciNet's table-of-contents e-mail alerts.
    • We also promote your book through relevant online portals, search engines and social media.
    • Reviews of your book will be placed online when they are received.
  6. Translation Rights
    Our rights division aggressively promotes our books to publishers around the world. We conduct regular mail promotions of new and bestselling titles suitable for translation to our foreign publishing contacts, which number more than 500. In addition, special e-mail promotions are also carried out for outstanding books. We attend international book exhibitions regularly to network with foreign publishers and carry out Internet research to expand our list of contacts.
  7. Working Closely with Authors
    We will work with you closely on mailing lists, reviews and conferences to ensure that your book is marketed to your maximum satisfaction.

  8. Advertising Policy
    The acceptability of an advertisement for publication in WSPC publications or on the WSPC website is based upon legal, social, professional, and ethical considerations. In addition, an advertisement must be in keeping with the generally scholarly and professional nature of the publication.
  9. Long Term Electronic Archiving Policies
    All journal articles and ebooks published by World Scientific are archived at Portico which provides long-term preservation.
