Submission Guidelines
Preparation of the Manuscript
- All submissions to JOIN are handled electronically. Manuscripts must be submitted online via Editorial Manager (EM), a fully web-based submission, peer-review, and tracking system. Upon submission authors should specify to which section the paper belongs.
New Authors: If you were submitting via this new system for the first time, you should first register, and with the account you had created, you would be able to monitor your submission and make subsequent submissions in the future.
- The manuscript should preferably be prepared on an English word processor and must be typed with double spacing and wide margin on one side of paper.
- The title and each author's full name should appear on the first page of the manuscript. This title page should also include each author's affiliation and mailing address.
- An abstract of not more than 200 words and a list of five or so key words should be provided on the second page of the manuscript. The abstract is also for inclusion in databases for academic and/or technological purposes.
- The text should appear from the third page of the manuscript. Headings and subheadings should be written as:
1 Major Heading
1.1 Subheading of each subsection
1.1.1 Sub-subheading of each sub-subsection
- All mathematical expressions must be typewritten, and special symbols must be properly identified. All the notations should be defined where they first appear in the text, tables, or figures.
- Tables must be compiled on separate sheets and numbered consecutively.
- All illustrations (including photographs) should be glossy prints enlarged sufficiently to permit clear reproduction when reduced. Figures must be drawn in black ink or laser printed on separate sheets, and numbered according to their sequence.
- Appropriate places for the insertion of the tables and illustrations should be indicated in the margin of the manuscript.
- References are to be listed in the order cited in the text. Use the style shown in the following examples. For journal names, use the standard abbreviations. Typeset references in 9 pt Times roman.

- E. Upfal. "An O(log N) deterministic packet routing scheme," Journal of ACM, 39 (1) (1992), 55-70.
- Equations
Displayed equations should be numbered consecutively with the number set flush right and enclosed in parentheses.
Equations should be referred to in abbreviated form, e.g., Eq. (1) or (1). In multiple-line equations, the number should be given on the last line.
Displayed equations are to be centered on the page width. Standard English letters like x are to appear as x (italicized) in the text if they are used as mathematical symbols.
- The use of SI units is recommended.
Page proofs.
One set of proofs is sent to the corresponding author, to be checked for typesetting. Authors will be required not to make any major alterations from their manuscript.
