Compendium on Electromagnetic Analysis cover

The five-volume set may serve as a comprehensive reference on electromagnetic analysis and its applications at all frequencies, from static fields to optics and photonics. The material includes micro- and nanomagnetics, the new generation of electric machines, renewable energy, hybrid vehicles, low-noise motors; antennas and microwave devices, plasmonics, metamaterials, lasers, and more.

Written at a level accessible to both graduate students and engineers, Electromagnetic Analysis is a comprehensive reference, covering methods and applications at all frequencies (from statics to optical). Each volume contains pedagogical/tutorial material of high archival value as well as chapters on state-of-the-art developments.

The two volumes on Optics and Photonics are designed to bridge this gap by providing a unified and rigorous electromagnetic description of several sub-fields of optics and photonics. The volumes cover the traditional and fundamental subjects as well as several topics that have seen substantial progress in recent years and are not yet adequately exposed in the textbooks. Volume 4 includes chapters on Maxwell's equations and constitutive relations, Green's functions and radiation, and several chapters on structured (periodic), amplifying and complex (random) electromagnetic media.

Contents:
  • Maxwell's Equations, Constitutive Relations and Classification of Electromagnetic Media (André Nicolet)
  • Green's Functions and Radiation in Classical Electrodynamics (Alexei A Maradudin)
  • Electrodynamics of Layered Media (Alexander M Merzlikin and Alexei P Vinogradov)
  • Electromagnetic Waves in Photonic Crystals: Laws of Dispersion, Causality and Analytical Properties (Boris Gralak, Maxence Cassier, Guillaume Demésy and Sébastien Guenneau)
  • Topological Properties of Photonic Crystals (Wen-Jie Chen, Ruo-Yang Zhang, Ming-Li Chang, Meng Xiao and Che Ting Chan)
  • Interaction of Light with Gain Media (Eugeny S Andrianov, Eugeny D Chubchev, Alexander V Dorofeenko, Igor A Nechepurenko, Alexander A Pukhov and Alexander A Zyablovsky)
  • Radiative Transport of Electromagnetic Waves in Random Media (John C Schotland)
Readership: Graduate students and engineers studying or working in the fields requiring electromagnetic analysis; ranging from static fields to optics and photonics.
