    Abstract:

Elliptic Curve Cryptography is one of the emerging public key cryptography algorithms to provide communications security. Providing security means a decrease in performance and this decrease should be kept minimal in order to make the security algorithm attractive. Contemporarily, internet communications and sensor networks found a broad usage and research interest. In this paper, the performance of most dominant internet security protocol, Secure Sockets Layer, and TinySec, the link layer security mechanism for sensor networks, which are both enhanced by Elliptic Curve Cryptography, are studied.
