Episode X: The Birthday Party

This episode presents a few quick portraits of some of François’s friends. Readers unfamiliar with our protagonist’s circle might get the impression that this episode does not concern them, but our purpose is twofold: on the one hand, to celebrate this fondness for friendship that so defines François, and on the other hand, to highlight a little-known aspect of the life of physicists for a public that often imagines them as a community of sedentary scientists alone in their labs or offices. Nothing could be further from the truth! They are people who journey, people who share.
