    Abstract:

    We present a general method for the construction of topological quantum field theories (TQFT's) using triangulations of manifolds and cobordisms, discuss examples (notably Turaev/Viro theory [TV] and a (3+1)-dimensional TQFT recently constructed by Crane and Yetter [CY]), and suggest further avenues for investigation using the general method.
