The Analysis of Comprehensive Performance Evaluation of Press Hardened Steel by CSP Based on the Crashworthiness of B-pillar Reinforcement
Exploration of press hardened steel by Compact Strip Production (CSP) is an important direction for the innovation of steel industry. It can lighten automobile body, guarantee crash safety, and reduce production cost at the same time. This paper presents the evaluated comparison of a press hardened B-pillar reinforcement and its raw material by conventional technique and CSP, which included chemical components, metallographic structure, mechanical properties, side impact simulation analysis, extreme tip cold bending angle test, three-point-bending and side impact test. The results show that, under the same condition, the performance of press hardened steel by CSP is within the allowable bearing range compared with conventional press hardened steel. Finally, this new technology used in the automobile industry has far-reaching significance, such as reducing the cost, saving energy and water, reducing emissions, and boosting the vehicle green manufacturing.
