    Abstract:

To support emerging industrial needs in the UK and elsewhere for calibrated pressure sensors for dynamic applications, the UK's National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is developing new primary measurement standards to generate time varying pressure signals of the required bandwidth and dynamic range. The main metrological and mathematical challenges are reviewed briefly and the work is placed in the context of a new European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) project entitled Traceable Dynamic Measurement of Mechanical Quantities that is due to start later in 2011.
