      Abstract:

The standard cosmological model is determined once the present values of the Hubble constant, Ho, the deceleration parameter, qo (or the density parameter Ωo), the temperature of the cosmic microwave background radiation , T0, the baryon-to-photon number ratio, ηo, and the number of light neutrino families, Nv, are specified.

In this Chapter the most important methods used to measure Ho, qo and Ωo are considered. In forthcoming Chapters, the derivation of the To, ηo and Nv parameters will be discussed.
