Professor Adrian Bejan, Nautilus book award winner for "Time and Beauty", receives ASME Medal

World Scientific congratulates author of Time and Beauty, Adrian Bejan, the J.A. Jones Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Duke University, USA for being named the 2024 recipient of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Medal. Established in 1920, this prestigious award is the highest honor bestowed by the Society, recognizing “eminently distinguished engineering achievement." Professor Bejan will be presented with the medal at ASME’s International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) in Portland, Oregon, this November.

Prof. Bejan is renowned for his unparalleled creativity, breadth of research, and lasting impact on the field of engineering. His groundbreaking work has shaped the new science of energy, motion, form, and evolution, bridging the gap between engineering and disciplines such as biology, geophysics, and sociology. Among his many achievements, Prof. Bejan is credited with unifying thermodynamics with heat transfer and fluid dynamics, as well as introducing the Constructal Law, which explains the natural tendency toward evolution in nature's design.

In addition to his profound academic contributions, Prof. Bejan is also a celebrated author, bringing complex scientific ideas to a wider audience through his books. His recent work, Time and Beauty: Why Time Flies and Beauty Never Dies (2022), published by World Scientific, explores the intriguing connections between time, aesthetics, and the natural world.
