Giuseppe Longo, a well-known mathematician and computer scientist, is a former Professor of Mathematical Logic and Theory of Computing, at the University of Pisa (Italy) and, since 1990, Directeur de Recherches at (CNRS) and at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Professor Longo has extensively published in many areas including logic and computability, type theory, category theory and their applications to computer science, and interfaces between mathematics, physics, biology, and the philosophy of mathematics. His current work focuses on theories of organisms, in conjunction with evolutionary theories.
