Abstract:

Nuclear medicine is a true interdisciplinary field drawing on the principles of nuclear physics, chemistry, and biology to diagnose and treat disease. On completion of this chapter and the associated questions, you should:

  • Be able to apply the knowledge of radioactive decay and magnetic resonance to diagnostic imaging.

  • Be able to describe the principles of the main divisions of radiation therapy.

  • Understand basic concepts in radiopharmacy and the design of radio-pharmaceuticals.
