Chapter 11: Femoral Artery Aneurysm

The majority of femoral artery aneurysm (FAA) present with local symptoms or thigh pain or claudication.
Type I aneurysms involves the CFA only and type II involves the CFA and SFA.
The majority can be repaired using straight or bifurcated interposition grafts.
Pseudo aneurysms form as a result of IV drug abuse or iatrogenic injury from catheterisation.
Most small pseudo aneurysms less than 3 cm have an indolent course and can be managed conservatively.
Symptomatic ones can do treated with ultrasound guided compression or thrombin injection.
