      Abstract:

Among the Chinese ancient Great Walls sites, the Ming Great Wall is the best kept. It can be seen today in many northern provinces. The reason is that it was built last and has received less destruction from human and nautal forces. In addition, wall construction techniques were much improved at that point therefore the walls are stronger. In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, the “Sheng Jing Border Wall” was constructed using Ming Dynasty Great Wall, which was later both expanded and contracted. These undoubtedly were motivated by the political and economic development needs of the Qing Dynasty.
