    Abstract:

In the effort to evaluate movement of nearshore placed material, improve the effectiveness of nearshore placement activities for beach nourishment, and protect eroding shoreline at Ogden Dunes, hydrodynamic, wave, and sediment transport modeling simulations are conducted under various physical conditions. The results of the study indicate that storm-/wave-driven currents are dominant in surf zone area. Stronger longshore currents are responsible for sediment movement and morphology changes in the nearshore area. Through the analysis of driving forcing and the validation to morphology changes, the model’s capability is demonstrated in calculating currents, water surface elevation, waves, bed volumetric changes, and sand migration in coastal lake environment.
