    A number of factors came together for Singapore to develop as a centre for hajj shipping in Southeast Asia. There had to be business networks to provide the infrastructure for shipping but there also had to be a cultural, social and religious setting that could speak the language of the hajj and provide what was needed by the Muslim community from across the region…
