      Abstract:

Classical Mechanics describes the rules and laws governing the nonrelativistic motion of material bodies, where motion is defined as the change of location as a function of time. This motion is subject to forces that are presumed to be known. The mere description of the motion of a body is called kinematics. The study of the underlying laws that govern a mechanical motion is called dynamics. A large part of mechanics deals with point masses and systems of point masses, where the bodies are idealized as point-like objects without spatial extension, with only one intrinsic property, called the mass m.
