      Abstract:

      It is tempting to imagine that we humans are no longer at the whims of Mother Nature, that modern society has developed beyond the inconveniences of our ancestors and evolution is something you only read about in natural history. But nothing is static, and now more so than ever are we reminded of forces beyond our control. As I write this paragraph for instance, the Covid-19 pandemic has been escalated by a string of mutations of virus.
