Poisson limit theorems for the appearances of attributes

    Abstract:

We examine the number of appearances of certain types of events in a sequence of independent (but not necessarily identical) trials. We introduce a concept of Renewal which, in this context, in certain ways generalizes Feller's Theory. Under quite general conditions, Poisson limit theorems are obtained, which extend known results. Key tools in that are Stein-Chen method and probabilistic arguments.
