STATUS OF THE OPERA EXPERIMENT ON THE CNGS NEUTRINO BEAM

This paper reviews the current status and the physics program of the OPERA experiment with the future CNGS long baseline neutrino beam from CERN to the Gran Sasso Laboratory. The expected background, the expected number of signal events at the atmospheric Δm² scale and the sensitivity for both ν_μ ↔ ν_τ and ν_μ ↔ ν_e oscillations are given.
