Abstract:

Historically, interest in magnetic impurities was nurtured by bi-yearly reviews at the International Conference on Low Temperature Physics. Specifically, the curious resistivity anomaly seen in nominally pure transition metals — the resistance increased as the temperature decreased — was eventually traced to dilute impurities such as iron and cobalt.
