Epidemiology of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Esophageal cancer (EC) is one of the most common cancers. More than 482,000 new cases were diagnosed worldwide in 2008, and caused about 395,000 deaths in 2010. There are two main histological types of EC, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). In this section, we will briefly introduce the environmental and genetic risk factors of ESCC.
