Imaging of Esophageal Adenocarcinoma
The main imaging modalities used in the detection, staging, and post-treatment follow up of esophageal adenocarcinoma are endoscopic ultrasound, CT, and PET/CT. The combination is used to establish the clinical or pretreatment stage (cTNM), which bears important prognostic information and determines treatment planning. It is therefore important to recognize the strengths and limitations of each imaging modality so that they are appropriately utilized.
