MECHANISM OF NANOCRYSTALLIZATION OF AMORPHOUS Fe73.5Si15.5B7Nb3Cu1 ALLOYS

    Abstract:

Soft-magnetic FIMEMET-type FeSiBNbCu amorphous precursors nanocrystallize into a duplex structure of primary nanocrystals within a residual amorphous matrix. The basic physics of this process can be understood through the role of elemental additions using a simple nucleation and growth model provided that the accumulation of the slower diffusing Nb atoms at the growth interface of the Fe(Si) nanocrystals is considered.
