Chapter 8: Conclusion
The purpose of our book is to bridge the gap between the typical introductory course of undergraduate physics and the frontiers of physics research. We believe that both undergraduate education and contemporary science would greatly benefit from such a reconciliation. We have chosen one way to approach the goal: to combine in one book selected topics from contemporary science with problems encountered in frontier research that can be solved within the scope of the “standard” undergraduate course. We believe university professors will use our problems in their courses. We also hope the book will be interesting to undergraduate and graduate students who are curious about contemporary scientific research.
