Norway spruce is fumigated with O3, SO2, and NO2 in open-top chambers. The spruce needles from the first two years of fumigation were analysed by means of PIXE. A total of 14 elements were found in concentrations above the detection limits in the major part of the around 150 samples analyzed. The results were used in an analysis of variance showing, slightly increased levels of S and Zn in needles from trees exposed to fumigation with all three gases.
