Chapter 6: Big Data Empowers Smart Government Affairs

On a global scale, big data empowering smart government has become a new form of future government development. China’s 13th Five-Year Plan clearly proposes “implementing the national big data strategy” to use big data to help the transformation of government functions and innovation in social governance. Smart government uses big data technology to integrate various related data information. It takes data analysis as the core, and makes intelligent analysis judgments and scientific decisions through multidimensional analysis and mining applications of massive data. This will help accurately catch the dynamic changes in government affairs, discover new needs of the public, change passive services to active services, and thus greatly empower government services. Based on this, an era of big data belonging to smart government affairs is on the way. This will change the existing government service model, promote the development of government service concepts and work processes, and lead the successful transformation and upgrading of government services.
