In [14] nonstandard analysis was used to construct a (standard) global attractor for the 3D stochastic Navier–Stokes equations with general multiplicative noise, living on a Loeb space, using Sell's approach [26]. The attractor had somewhat ad hoc attracting and compactness properties. We strengthen this result by showing that the attractor has stronger properties making it a neo-attractor — a notion introduced here that arises naturally from the Keisler–Fajardo theory of neometric spaces [18].

To set this result in context we first survey the use of Loeb space and nonstandard techniques in the study of attractors, with special emphasis on results obtained for the Navier–Stokes equations both deterministic and stochastic, showing that such methods are well-suited to this enterprise.

Let (X_n, n ≥ 0) be a random dynamical system and its state space be endowed with a reasonable topology. Instead of completing the structure as common by some linearity, this study stresses — motivated in particular by economic applications — order aspects. If the underlying random transformations are supposed to be order-preserving, this results in a fairly complete theory. First of all, the classical notions of and familiar criteria for recurrence and transience can be extended from discrete Markov chain theory. The most important fact is provided by the existence and uniqueness of a locally finite-invariant measure for recurrent systems. It allows to derive ergodic theorems as well as to introduce an attract or in a natural way. The classification is completed by distinguishing positive and null recurrence corresponding, respectively, to the case of a finite or infinite invariant measure; equivalently, this amounts to finite or infinite mean passage times. For positive recurrent systems, moreover, strengthened versions of weak convergence as well as generalized laws of large numbers are available.

We consider skew product dynamical systems $f:\mathrm{\Theta }\times ℝ\to \mathrm{\Theta }\times ℝ,f(𝜃,y)=(T𝜃,f_{𝜃}(y))$ with a (generalized) baker transformation $T$ at the base and uniformly bounded increasing $C^3$ fibre maps $f_{𝜃}$ with negative Schwarzian derivative. Under a partial hyperbolicity assumption that ensures the existence of strong stable fibres for $f$, we prove that the presence of these fibres restricts considerably the possible structures of invariant measures — both topologically and measure theoretically, and that this finally allows to provide a “thermodynamic formula” for the Hausdorff dimension of set of those base points over which the dynamics are synchronized, i.e. over which the global attractor consists of just one point.

We consider piecewise expanding maps of the interval with finitely many branches of monotonicity and show that they are generically combinatorially stable, i.e. the number of ergodic attractors and their corresponding mixing components do not change under small perturbations of the map. Our methods provide a topological description of the attractor and give an elementary proof of the density of periodic orbits.

We study the nonlinear elliptic equation Δu(x) + a(x)u(x) = g(x)f(u(x)) on the Sierpinski gasket and with zero Dirichlet boundary condition. By extending a method introduced by Faraci and Kristály in the framework of Sobolev spaces to the case of function spaces on fractal domains, we establish the existence of infinitely many weak solutions.

In this paper, the bifurcation and attractor of the stochastic Rabinovich system with jump are discussed, and some new results for the system are presented. First, the sufficient condition and necessary condition for stochastic stability of the system are given. Second, the estimation of the global attractive set of system is obtained. The existence of random attractors of the stochastic Rabinovich system with jump is also discussed. Finally, stochastic bifurcation behavior for the system is analyzed. It is hoped that the investigation of this paper can help understanding the rich dynamic of the stochastic Rabinovich system and the true geometrical structure of the original amazing Rabinovich attractor.

One of the most common way to generate a fractal is by using an iterated function system (IFS). In this paper, we introduce an (n, m)-IFS, which is a collection of n IFSs and discuss the attractor of this system. Also we prove the continuity theorem and collage theorem for (n, m)-IFS.

Non-autonomous dynamical systems generate cocycles w.r.t. a flow. We give conditions for the existence of attractors for cocycles based on the so-called pull back convergence. These conditions will be applied to the non-autonomous Navier Stokes equation. In particular. we do not need compactness assumption for the time dependent coefficients of this equation.
