The stability of a nonuniform column subjected to a tip force and axially distributed loading is investigated based on the Timoshenko beam theory. An emphasis is placed on buckling of a standing column with varying cross-section and variable material properties under self-weight and tip force. Four kinds of columns with different taper ratios are analyzed. A new initial value method is suggested to determine critical tip force and axial loading at buckling. The effectiveness of the method is confirmed by comparing our results with those for Euler–Bernoulli columns for the case of sufficiently large shear rigidity. The effects of shear rigidity, taper ratio, and gravity loading on the buckling loads of a heavy standing or hanging column are examined.

A simple mass–spring system with an attached hanging column is investigated. The problem is formulated and the frequencies obtained with an efficient initial value method. Under forced vibration, the amplitude of the mass may be greatly reduced by adding a hanging column. The possibility of using such a hanging column as a dynamic vibration absorber is shown for the first time.

The model of generalized thermoelasticity, with the dual-phase-lag theory (DPL), is applied to study the influence of gravity on a piezo-thermoelastic diffusive medium. Normal mode analysis is used to obtain the exact expressions for different physical quantities. The derived expressions are computed numerically and the results are presented in graphical form. Comparisons are made with the results predicted by the Lord–Shulman theory (LS) and the DPL model in the presence and absence of gravity.

In this paper, a novel model in a nonlocal porous thermoelastic solid is formulated based on the dual-phase-lag model (DPL), the Lord–Shulman theory and coupled theory with a memory-dependent derivative. The Laplace–Fourier technique is used to solve the problem and to obtain the exact expressions of physical fields. Numerical calculation of temperature, displacement, change in the volume fraction and stress is carried out and displayed graphically. Comparisons are made with the results predicted in the absence and presence of the gravity field as well as a nonlocal parameter. Comparisons are also made with results for different memory Kernel.

The novelty of 21st-century physics is the development of the “superfluid quantum vacuum” model, also named “superfluid quantum space” that is replacing space-time as the fundamental arena of the universe. It also represents the model that has the potential of unifying four fundamental forces of the universe. Superfluid quantum space is represented as the time-invariant fundamental field of the universe where time is merely the duration of material changes.

Fascinated people from the dawn of history, gravity is not understood, still. Here, we suggest that gravity is a result of a process in the material: (1) Gravitational photons are produced by all atoms that exist in nonzero temperature and or interact with radiation, similar to black body radiation. (2) Then, these photons move in the material. The electromagnetic properties of the gravitational photons and the structure of the object cause the photons’ trajectories to bend. (3) Such trajectories generate a force pointing to the center of mass of the object, due to the circular motion and the electromagnetic properties of the gravitational photons. These trajectories are radiated outwards, as in antennae, although at a much slower rate, due to that force. So basically gravity is a simple process (as black body radiation), just a sort of generalized radiation pressure due to the process of gravity in the material, resulting in antenna like radiation emission, of these unique electromagnetic waves that are pressed towards the radiating object center of mass during their circular motion in the object. Going beyond the dynamical model, we identify various possible forms of the gravitational photons, and their general invariant properties. With this theory, we (1) explain various unexplained phenomena that are related to gravity, yet also suggest (2) method and apparatus for gravity shielding, and (3) gravitational radiation energy cultivation. This theory can form the missing part for the “theory of everything”.

Although it has been approximately 80 years since the graviton was theoretically predicted, it has not yet been discovered. To resolve this puzzle, this study developed a model wherein the gravitational force is incorporated into the fundamental structure of the universal space. A physical object diminishes the energy density of space exactly by the amount of energy it contains. The resulting area of space with a diminished energy density is pushed in the direction of the closest area with the lowest energy density. A physical object situated in the corresponding space with a lower energy density follows the motion of this area towards the closest area with the lowest energy density. Therefore, there is no direct gravitational force between the physical objects and gravity is incorporated into the variable energy density of the space. This model of gravity has advanced Newton’s ether model with the extension of the mass-energy equivalence principle to space and works without the hypothetical graviton.

Gravitational redshift decreases the resolution of measurements, causing entropy by increasing the possible microstates of position and momentum for objects within a gravitational field. This is the first paper with a quantitative equation for gravitational entropy, which extends the concept of black hole entropy to any object within a gravitational field. It also provides the first calculation of “inertial entropy,” the entropy of moving objects, by correlating changes in the scale of spacetime due to gravity with those of special relativity. The entropy scale factor (ESF) combines gravitational entropy and inertial entropy to propose that all changes in the scale of spacetime are due to entropy. In the ESF, gravity is due to entropy, not the mass of Newtonian gravity or the energy and momentum of general relativity. The key difference between Newtonian gravity and the ESF is that mass is a property of an object, while gravitational entropy is a property of a field. This means that in the ESF the entropy of objects can be increased by the gravitational fields of nearby objects. This increase in entropy results in the ESF predicting more gravitational force than Newtonian gravity does for complicated systems. This increase in force may be able to explain the phenomena attributed to dark matter, like galaxy rotation dynamics, without the need for dark matter. The same changes in scale predicted by the ESF may be able to explain the expansion of the universe, both in the inflationary epoch and the accelerating universe, without the need for an inflaton field or dark energy. The similarity of the ESF to Newtonian gravity for systems with one or two gravitational bodies explains why it has not been ruled out by prior tests of gravity.

Quantum entropy measures the number of possible microstates of position and momentum due to quantum uncertainty. Black hole entropy is an example of quantum entropy. Classical entropy, like the Gibbs entropy of a gas, does not depend on quantum uncertainty. This paper is the first to define the quantum entropy of ordinary matter, termed “atomic entropy”. The atomic entropy at the surface of a spherical object depends on its mass and is inversely proportional to its surface area. The entropy scale factor (ESF) is a theory that all changes in the scale of spacetime are due to differences in entropy. Defining atomic entropy allows the ESF to make predictions for systems including ordinary matter. In the ESF, gravitational objects are attracted to one another because gravitational entropy, a form of quantum entropy, increases as the distance between these objects decreases. The increase in gravitational entropy increases the total entropy of the system, in accordance with the second law of thermodynamics. This paper is also the first to use the gradients in the scale of space and time predicted by the ESF to derive Newtonian gravity. Explaining the mechanism of gravity in this way provides a link between quantum physics and gravity.

In this work, we suggest that an imaginary mass field (or the orthogonal field) is what creates gravity, through a process similar to that which appeared in our previous works [O. Flomenbom, The process of gravity, Rep. Adv. Phys. Sci.6 (2022) 2250003; Quantum mechanics and gravity resonance together, Rep. Adv. Phys. Sci.8 (2024) 2471001]. The imaginary mass has a signal faster than light speed c, scaling numerically as ∼ $c^3$, influencing the real space through the creation of gravitational waves; surrounding real mass or real energy as photons, giving photons their velocity of the speed light, and giving mass to all other particles. The gravitational waves propagate faster than the speed of light, yet the digesting velocity of the real matter “above” is the speed of light (meaning for example that all the planets in the solar system feel changes in the sun’s gravity at the same instant, and this is a fraction of a second after it occurred). When there are no particles or energy “above” this field, it can generate real gravitational sieves, that upon colliding create a cascade resulting in a big bang; therefore this description can also answer what will happen at the end, in addition to the beginning. The imaginary field particles vibrate in the imaginary mass space, and therefore do not absorb radiation photons of the real space, so do not cool down the real environment. The field is like a fluid and can change density depending on the real mass “above” it, where its particles’ size scales are 10${}^{-50}$ m. Einstein spacetime equations represent the dynamics of this fluid like imaginary mass field, in particular when interacting with real mass or energy through the gravitational waves. Among the extraordinaire capabilities of this simple description: (1) replacing the Higgs field and mechanism; (2) generating dark energy and dark matter, (3) explaining spacetime microscopically and connecting spacetime to quantum mechanics; therefore forming the theory of everything. (4) creating a big bang, therefore also the origin of matter (the dynamics before the big bang), (5) connecting the speed of light to the gravity constant and other constants, (6) solving questions about time travel: within this approach, we can view the past and visit the present time of distant planets, (7) designing anti-gravity technologies and others.

In a recent paper, “The process of gravity” (2022), we developed the theory to explain gravity, stating that gravity waves are created through a process involving quantum fluctuations of all the molecules of the celestial body. The local fluctuations of adjacent molecules interact, and this process on the macroscopic scale creates the gravitational waves: at steady state, these fluctuations are structured as layers of the onion, generating a force toward the body center of mass. Here, we further develop the theory microscopically, stating that all elementary particles vibrate at their own particular frequency of gravity, generating radiant energy, where their mass determines the radiant pulses strength. These quantum fluctuations are not photons; the fluctuations are connected to the mass. These might be defined as electromagnetic radiant phonons. Yet also, the frequency of gravity might reach 10${}^{27}$–10${}^{30}$Hz, whereas these are not photons, the energy is not high at all. This description is valid also for black holes. There, gravity waves made of electromagnetic fluctuations engulf the singularity. As these fluctuations are connected to the mass, the waves can escape the black hole, within our layering description of gravity. An anti-gravity device should create a fluctuating magnetic field and electric field, in the adequate direction, at the required frequency and strength. The signal should annihilate the Earth’s gravitation waves. In this work, an anti-gravity device is designed and developed. It is based on a Tesla coil circuit of high voltage, and high frequency, connected to a coil on a rotating board, at a condensation temperature, yet all the ingredients are replaced and improved, including the rotation feature.

In the adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) treatment, a brace is prescribed to the patients who have 20 to 45° curves on their spines to prevent the disorder's advancement. For the analysis of Milwaukee brace effects during time, finite element models (FEMs) of the spine (the thoracolumbar region) and the ribcage (contained 10 pairs of the ribs and the sternum) were prepared for two patients. For modeling the spine part, a new element was used in which a disc (as viscoelastic 3D beam) and a vertebra (as rigid link) were modeled as an element and the ribs and the sternum modeled by 3D elastic beams. The gravity, Milwaukee brace constraints and the forces of the brace's different regions were considered as the FEM boundary conditions. By running the patients' FEMs, the spine deformities of each patient were predicted for 24 h. For AIS patients, the brace should not only correct the deformity of the spine by inserting the forces, but also support the spine from the bending moments being caused by the gravity forces in different spine regions. Moreover, in studying scoliosis pathomechanisms, the stresses in different levels of the vertebra are important. Therefore, the bending moments and compressive stresses, caused by the gravity forces, were calculated in each level of the vertebra and the brace forces effects on them were analyzed. According to the patients' FEM responses, for the female patient: lumbar scoliosis was increased, thoracic scoliosis was decreased and kyphosis and lordosis were increased, and for the male patient: lumbar scoliosis was increased, kyphosis was increased and lordosis was decreased. In standing position, the brace forces reduced the bending moment and the compressive stress in vertebral levels of thoracolumbar region for the female patient and increased them for the male patient.

Simple one-dimensional models of blood flow are widely used in simulating the transport of blood around the human vasculature. However, the effects of gravity have only been previously examined briefly and the effects of changes in wall properties and their interaction with gravitational forces have not been investigated. Here the effects of both gravitational forces and local changes in wall stiffness on the one-dimensional flow through axisymmetric vessels are studied. The governing fluid dynamic equations are derived from the Navier-Stokes equations for an incompressible fluid and linked to a simple model of the vessel wall, derived here from an exponential stress-strain relationship. A closed form of the hyperbolic partial differential equations is found. The flow behavior is examined in both the steady state and for wave reflection at a junction between two sections of different wall stiffness. A significant change in wave reflection coefficient is found under the influence of gravity, particularly at low values of baseline non-dimensional wall stiffness.
