Preview Abstract
This paper describes the development of a computer-assisted tool for assessing the productivity of the design function. The complexity of designs is taken into account in assessing aggregate measures of design output. The tool is part of a suite of tools developed to assess the potential return from investment in new hardware and software design technologies. The paper begins with a description of the phases of the design process.
