Special Issue on Emerging Topics in Quantitative and Climate Finance

Scope and Objectives

The International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance (IJTAF) invites submissions for a special issue on Emerging Topics in Quantitative and Climate Finance. This issue aims to explore innovative research at the intersection of quantitative finance, climate risk modeling, and sustainable investment strategies, reflecting the increasing need for financial markets to integrate sustainability and climate-related risks into decision-making.

The special issue seeks to highlight cutting-edge research that applies advanced mathematical and financial tools to address key challenges in risk management, portfolio optimization, and financial stability in a climate-conscious world. We welcome both theoretical advancements and empirical studies that contribute to the development of robust financial models for climate finance and sustainability-driven investments.

Topics of Interest

We invite high-quality research contributions on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Stochastic modeling of climate risks and financial stability
  • Carbon finance and pricing mechanisms
  • ESG investment strategies and portfolio optimization
  • Green bonds and sustainable fixed-income securities
  • The role of central banks and financial regulators in climate risk mitigation
  • Quantitative methods for stress testing and scenario analysis in climate finance
  • Impact of climate policies on financial markets
  • Machine learning and AI applications in climate finance
  • Market microstructure and liquidity considerations in sustainable investments

Special Issue Connection

This special issue is linked to the II Workshop on Quantitative Finance and Climate Finance, taking place from 14–18 July 2025 in Stellenbosch, South Africa. While the workshop serves as a focal point for discussion, the special issue is open to all researchers beyond workshop participants.

Submission Guidelines and Important Dates

  • Call for Papers Announcement: 1 April 2025
  • Submission Deadline: 15 October 2025
  • Initial Review Feedback: 15 December 2025
  • Revised Manuscript Submission: 15 February 2026
  • Final Submission to Journal: 30 March 2026
  • Expected Publication Date: July 2026

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the journal’s formatting guidelines and submitted through the IJTAF online submission system. Submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure high scientific quality. Please indicate that the title of special issue (Special Issue on Emerging Topics in Quantitative and Climate Finance) when you submit your paper.

  • Target Number of Papers: 5–8
  • Page Limits:
    • Maximum: 25 pages (including references, figures, etc.)
    • Minimum: 10 pages (excluding references, figures, etc.)
