Composite nature of a particle can be probed by electromagnetic interactions and information about their structure is embedded in form factors. Most of the experimental and theoretical efforts on baryon electromagnetic form factors have been focused on nucleon while the data on charmed sector are limited to spectroscopy, and weak and strong decays. Forthcoming experiments with a heavy-hadron physics program at major experimental facilities are expected to provide a wealth of information on charmed baryons, which calls for a better understanding of the heavy-sector dynamics from theoretical grounds.

We review the progress in calculating the elastic and transition form factors of charmed baryons in lattice QCD. A collection of static observables, e.g. charge radii, multipole moments, are presented along with the elastic form factors up to $Q^2\sim 1.5{\mathrm{\text{GeV}}}^2$. As one would expect the charmed baryons are compact in comparison to nucleon and this is due to the presence of valence charm quark(s). The elastic and transition magnetic moments are both suppressed. The lattice results provide predictions for the transition magnetic moments, transition and helicity amplitudes and consequentially the decay widths of some singly and doubly charmed baryons.

In general, lattice results are consonant with the qualitative expectations of quark model and heavy-quark symmetry, although there are apparent quantitative differences up to two orders of magnitude in some cases. There are, however, indications that the lattice results can be utilized to improve the model predictions. Nevertheless, discrepancies between the lattice and nonlattice calculations need to be understood better to have a solid insight into the dynamics of the heavy sector.

Furthermore, reliably determined charmed baryon observables would be invaluable input to investigate the nature of exotic states, which further emphasizes the importance of rigorous, first-principles calculations to advance our understanding of the dynamics of the heavy quarks and strong interactions.

We revise the steady vortex surface theory following the recent finding of asymmetric vortex sheets (Migdal, 2021). These surfaces avoid the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability by adjusting their discontinuity and shape. The vorticity collapses to the sheet only in an exceptional case considered long ago by Burgers and Townsend, where it decays as a Gaussian on both sides of the sheet. In generic asymmetric vortex sheets (Shariff, 2021), vorticity leaks to one side or another, making such sheets inadequate for vortex sheet statistics and anomalous dissipation. We conjecture that the vorticity in a turbulent flow collapses on a special kind of surface (confined vortex surface or CVS), satisfying some equations involving the tangent components of the local strain tensor.

The most important qualitative observation is that the inequality needed for this solution’s stability breaks the Euler dynamics’ time reversibility. We interpret this as dynamic irreversibility. We have also represented the enstrophy as a surface integral, conserved in the Navier–Stokes equation in the turbulent limit, with vortex stretching and viscous diffusion terms exactly canceling each other on the CVS surfaces.

We have studied the CVS equations for the cylindrical vortex surface for an arbitrary constant background strain with two different eigenvalues. This equation reduces to a particular version of the stationary Birkhoff–Rott equation for the 2D flow with an extra nonanalytic term. We study some general properties of this equation and reduce its solution to a fixed point of a map on a sphere, guaranteed to exist by the Brouwer theorem.

This paper reviews a systematic dynamical analysis on a general form of scalar field as Dark Energy (DE) with dark matter (DM) to sort out the “cosmic coincidence” problem. Here the autonomous system of differential equations is two-dimensional (2D) as well as nonlinear. So we have utilized nonlinear dynamical theory to explain various cosmological implications of this model. Nowadays, we have noted that some works are undertaking this nonlinear systems theory. Although we have seen that most of the works are simplifying the underlying nonlinear dynamical systems similar to a linear one, that can lead to flawed conclusions about the evolution of the universe. Since an important theorem, Poincare–Bendixson theorem asserts linearization of the nonlinear system and does not give “global” stability, unlike the linear one if the dimension is more than two. Anyway, our work is different from others in this regard. Here the dimension of the system is two, and we have obtained some interesting stuffs also. We have applied the above theorem of nonlinear dynamical systems and others to find the “global” stability. This theorem offers completely different stable solutions, contrary to the prediction of linear analysis. As a result, we have obtained two fixed points; one of them is a stable “attractor” (it is attracting “node” actually), and thereafter, we have analyzed the stability. To investigate the dynamical system behavior, we have drawn different figures. These figures include vector field and a new plotting strategy (explained later). These investigations suggest a way out of the coincidence problem (or, precisely speaking, what should be the mathematical form of the term “$C$”, which indicates interaction between DE and DM to reduce coincidence). In this scenario, if the equation of state (EoS) of DE and DM obeys ${\omega }_d<{\omega }_m$, then coincidence problem may be avoided.

We study the fluctuations in the brightness temperature of 21-cm signal $\delta T_{21}$ at the dark ages ($z\sim 100$) with a dark matter (DM) candidate in Inert Doublet Model (IDM). We then explore the effects of different fractions of IDM DM on $\delta T_{21}$ signal. The IDM DM masses are chosen in few tens of GeV region as well as in the high mass region beyond 500 GeV. It has been observed that the $\delta T_{21}$ signal is more sensitive in the DM mass range of 70–80 GeV. A lower bound on annihilation cross-section for this DM is also obtained by analyzing the $\delta T_{21}$ signal. This is found to lie within the range $6.5\times 10^{-29}{\mathrm{\text{ cm}}}^3/\text{s}\le 〈\sigma v〉\le 4.88\times 10^{-26}$ cm³/s for the IDM DM mass range 10 GeV$\le m_{\chi }\le 990$ GeV.

In this paper, we study consequences of the assumption that the gauge group $\mathrm{\text{SU}}(2)$ of the standard model is a nonassociative image of $\mathrm{\text{Spin}}(3)$. Such an approach allows us to take a different look at the Higgs mechanism and obtain the value of the Weinberg angle in very good agreement with the experiment.

Following a field-theoretical approach, we study the scalar Casimir effect upon a perfectly conducting cylindrical shell in the presence of spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking. The scalar field is modeled by a Lorentz-breaking extension of the theory for a real scalar quantum field in the bulk regions. The corresponding Green’s functions satisfying Dirichlet boundary conditions on the cylindrical shell are derived explicitly. We express the Casimir pressure (i.e. the vacuum expectation value of the normal–normal component of the stress–energy tensor) as a suitable second-order differential operator acting on the corresponding Green’s functions at coincident arguments. The divergences are regulated by making use of zeta function techniques, and our results are successfully compared with the Lorentz invariant case. Numerical calculations are carried out for the Casimir pressure as a function of the Lorentz-violating coefficient, and an approximate analytical expression for the force is presented as well. It turns out that the Casimir pressure strongly depends on the Lorentz-violating coefficient and it tends to diminish the force.

In this paper, we consider the local topological structures of a class of new worldsheets, call it the rectifying worldsheets, which are generated by a class of singular worldlines. Using the classification approaches of the finite type on the tangent developables and defining the extended striction curve, this paper gives the detailed classification of the rectifying worldsheets of singular worldlines. It is demonstrated that the rectifying worldsheets of singular worldlines will appear not only in cuspidal edge and swallowtail, but cuspidal beaks under suitable conditions. Especially the singularities of rectifying worldsheets of singular worldlines are associated with curvature functions such that the singularities can be characterized by these functions. Two examples are provided to put the theoretical results into the practice of computation and classification.
