We review the theoretical status of squark and gluino hadroproduction and provide numerical predictions for all squark and gluino pair-production processes at the Tevatron and at the LHC, with a particular emphasis on proton–proton collisions at 7 TeV. Our predictions include next-to-leading order supersymmetric QCD corrections and the resummation of soft gluon emission at next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy. We discuss the impact of the higher-order corrections on total cross-sections, and provide an estimate of the theoretical uncertainty due to scale variation and the parton distribution functions.

We compute exact thermodynamic geometric properties of the non-Abelian quarkonium bound states from the consideration of one-loop strong coupling. From the general statistical principle, the intrinsic geometric nature of strongly coupled QCD is analyzed for the Colombic, rising and Regge rotating regimes. Without any approximation, we have obtained the nonlinear mass effect for the Bloch–Nordsieck rotating strongly coupled quarkonia. For a range of physical parameters, we show in each cases that there exists a well-defined, nondegenerate, curved, intrinsic Riemannian manifold. As the gluons become softer and softer, we find in the limit of the Bloch–Nordsieck resummation that the strong coupling obtained from the Sudakov form factor possesses exact local and global thermodynamic properties of the underlying mesons, kayons and D_s particles.

The exact propagator for an electron in a constant uniform magnetic field as the sum over Landau levels is obtained using the direct derivation by standard methods of quantum field theory from exact solutions to the Dirac equation in the magnetic field. The result can be useful for further development of the calculation technique of quantum processes in an external active medium, particularly in the conditions of moderately large field strengths when it is insufficient to take into account only the ground Landau level contribution.

We investigate a one-dimensional quantum mechanical model, which is invariant under translations and dilations but does not respect the conventional conformal invariance. We describe the possibility of modifying the conventional conformal transformation such that a scale invariant theory is also invariant under this new conformal transformation.

We propose a new Monte Carlo method for calculation of the Casimir forces. Our method is based on the formalism of noncompact lattice quantum electrodynamics. This approach has been tested in the simplest case of two ideal conducting planes. After this the method has been applied to the calculation of the lateral Casimir forces between two ideal conducting rectangular gratings. We compare our calculations with the results of PFA and "Optimal" PFA methods.

We investigate the enlarged class of open finite strings in (2+1)D space–time. The new dynamical system related to this class is constructed and quantized here. As the result, the energy spectrum of the model is defined by a simple formula ; the spin is an arbitrary number here but the constants α_n and c_n are eigenvalues for certain spectral problems in fermionic Fock space H_ψ constructed for the free 2D fermionic field.

The possibility of detecting solar neutrinos by coherent scattering in high-Debye temperature monocrystals such as sapphire is presented and discussed. Preliminary experimental results indicate that the solar neutrinos flux (0–430 keV) produces an observable torque of a high-sensitive torsion balance. Our experiments give a result for the diurnal force as predicted by Weber's theory of enhanced solar neutrinos coherent scattering.

In this paper we consider a massive scalar field on the boundary of AdS space–time and calculate the quasinormal modes for the string inspired Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet gravity in five dimensions. We study the effects of Gauss–Bonnet parameter, temperature, scalar field's mass and momentum vector on the effective potential and quasinormal modes.

We investigate a Hořava-like gravity model in (4+1)-dimensional space–time. Differing from the original one, we put a critical exponent z to the extra space dimension, which preserves the 4-dimensional diffeomorphism. Surprisingly, we obtain a mass hierarchy in a way completely different from the Randall–Sundrum model, we also obtain an exponential factor solution with the use of Ricci-like flow. More interesting relations with AdS₅/CFT₄ are further demonstrated. Since AdS/CFT is a realization of holography, we conclude that the Hořava-like gravity may be also a realization of holography.
