We review the prospects of using coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CENNS) to measure the nuclear neutron form factor. The merits and limitations of several potential neutrino sources are discussed. The effects of detector shape uncertainty and detector size on a measurement of the neutron RMS radius are also considered. We find that the detector spectral shape uncertainty is the important limiting factor on a measurement of the neutron RMS radius. In order to measure the neutron RMS radius to 5%, the spectral shape uncertainty of the detector needs to be known to 1% or better.

Interactions of high-energy neutrinos expose hadronic properties, in particular, contain a strong diffractive channel. The Adler relation (AR) between soft interactions of neutrinos and pions, might look as a manifestation of pion dominance. However, neutrinos cannot fluctuate to pions because of conservation of the lepton current, and interact via much heavier hadronic components. This fact leads to nontrivial relations between interactions of different hadronic species, in particular, it links diagonal and off-diagonal diffractive interactions of pions. Absorptive corrections break these relations making the AR impossible to hold universally, for any target and at any energy.

Studies of the structure of excited baryons are key factors to the N* program at Jefferson Lab (JLab). Within the first year of data taking with the Hall B CLAS12 detector following the 12 GeV upgrade, a dedicated experiment will aim to extract the N* electrocouplings at high photon virtualities Q². This experiment will allow exploration of the structure of N* resonances at the highest photon virtualities ever achieved, with a kinematic reach up to Q² = 12 GeV². This high-Q² reach will make it possible to probe the excited nucleon structures at distance scales ranging from where effective degrees of freedom, such as constituent quarks, are dominant through the transition to where nearly massless bare-quark degrees of freedom are relevant. In this document, we present a detailed description of the physics that can be addressed through N* structure studies in exclusive meson electroproduction. The discussion includes recent advances in reaction theory for extracting N* electrocouplings from meson electroproduction off protons, along with Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD)-based approaches to the theoretical interpretation of these fundamental quantities. This program will afford access to the dynamics of the nonperturbative strong interaction responsible for resonance formation, and will be crucial in understanding the nature of confinement and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in baryons, and how excited nucleons emerge from QCD.

The thermal properties of Tin isotopes such as 68≤N≤78, are studied. The calculations are performed by means of the modified Lipkin–Nogami (MLN) approach that takes into account the thermal and quantal fluctuations. The obtained results are compared to the conventional finite-temperature Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer (FTBCS) approach and to the modified Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer (MBCS) method. The numerical results illustrate the effect of the statistical and quantal fluctuations on the description of the phenomenon of pairing phase transition.

In this paper, we present approximate analytical solutions of the Dirac equation with the pseudoscalar Hulthén potential under spin and pseudospin (p-spin) symmetry limits in (3+1) dimensions. The energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions are given in their closed forms by using the Nikiforov–Uvarov (NU) method. Numerical results of the energy eigenvalue equations are presented to show the effects of the potential parameters on the bound-state energies.

Using improved approximate schemes for centrifugal term and the singular factor 1/r appearing in potential itself, we solve the Schrödinger equation with the screen Coulomb potential for arbitrary angular momentum state l. The bound state energy levels are obtained. A closed form of normalization constant of the wave functions is also found. The numerical results show that our results are in good agreement with those obtained by other methods. The key issue is how to treat two singular points in this quantum system.

The quark exchange model and the full three-nucleon wave function in the configuration space are used to evaluate the role of Fermi motion on the structure functions (SFs) of helium-3 and tritium nuclei. The three-nucleon wave function is obtained from the solution of the Faddeev equations with the Malfliet–Tjon-type potential, by using the three-dimensional approach as a function of the magnitudes of the Jacobi momenta vectors and the angle between them. In this calculation, the initial valence quarks inputs are taken from the GRV's (Glück, Reya and Vogt) fitting procedure and the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD calculation on , which give a very good fit to the available experimental data in the (x, Q²)-plane. The role of Fermi motion on the EMC ratio of the SFs of ³He and ³H nuclei are analyzed through the NLO expansion of the nuclear wave function in the coordinate space. A good agreement between the calculated EMC ratios, the corresponding experimental data and the theoretical results is found. Finally, the ratios of the SFs of the neutron to the proton (with the isospin symmetry assumption) with and without the Fermi motion effect, are also calculated, and they are compared with the available experimental data. Our results show that the roles of the Fermi motion in the framework of the quark exchange model for the calculations of the nuclear SFs are important.

We determine the properties of kaonic (K^-) nuclei in the Skyrme–Hartree–Fock nuclear structure approach. We use a standard chiral model with adjustable interaction strength for the kaon–nucleon interaction. The sensitivity to details of the nuclear Skyrme force, in particular, the nuclear compressibility, is studied. We find instabilities for a too strong kaon–nucleon interaction, which effectively limits the maximum binding of the kaon in this approach.

In this paper, by applying the Pekeris approximation and in the frame of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics (SUSYQM), the semi-relativistic solutions of the two-body spinless Salpeter equation are obtained analytically. For an interaction of nuclear form, we obtain the approximate bound-state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions using the shape invariance concept. The solutions are reported for any l state and some energy eigenvalues are given. These results are useful in elementary-particle physics and nuclear physics to obtain the bound states spectra of relativistic systems such as fermion–antifermion systems.

We propose a Time-Dependent Multi-Determinant (TDMD) approach to the description of the time evolution of the nuclear wave functions. We use the Dirac variational principle to derive the equations of motion using as ansatz for the nuclear wave function a linear combination of Slater determinants. We prove explicitly that the norm and the energy of the wave function are conserved during the time evolution. This approach is a generalization of the time-dependent Hartree–Fock method to many Slater determinants. We apply this approach to a case study of ⁶Li using the N3LO interaction renormalized to four major harmonic oscillator shells. We solve the TDMD equations of motion using Krylov subspace methods of Lanczos type. As an application, we discuss the isoscalar monopole strength function.

In this paper, two combinations of correlators are defined in order to investigate the evolution of possible invariance violation in strong interactions with initial energy for heavy-ion collisions. These combinations correspond to absolute and relative asymmetry of distribution of electrically charge particles with respect to the reaction plane in heavy-ion collisions. Energy dependence of parameters under study was derived from data of STAR and ALICE experiments. Significant decreasing both absolute and relative asymmetry is observed at energies . This feature agrees qualitatively with other results of stage-I beam energy scan program in STAR experiment. General behavior of dependence of absolute asymmetry on initial energy agrees reasonably with behavior of similar dependence of Chern–Simons diffusion rate calculated at different values of external Abelian magnetic field. The observed behavior of parameters under study versus energy can be considered as indication on possible transition to predominance of hadronic states over quark–gluon degrees of freedom in the mixed phase created in heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies.

On the basis of the proposed algorithm for calculation of the hadron reaction rates, the space-time structure of the relativistic nucleus–nucleus collisions is studied. The reaction zones and the reaction frequencies for various types of reactions are calculated for Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) and Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) energies within the microscopic transport model. The relation of the reaction zones to the kinetic and chemical freeze-out processes is discussed. It is shown that the space-time freeze-out layer is most extended in time in the central region, while, especially for higher collision energies, the layer becomes very narrow at the sides. The parametrization of freeze-out hypersurface in the form of specific hyperbola of constant proper time was confirmed. The specific characteristic time moments of the fireball evolution are introduced. It is found that the time of the division of a reaction zone into two separate parts does not depend on the collision energy. Calculations of the hadronic reaction frequency show that the evolution of nucleus–nucleus collision can be divided into two hadronic stages.

This paper considers the problem of the center of mass motion of three fermionic particles, e. g., equal nucleons (no spin), which can move only in the x-direction in the laboratory system. This system (with three degrees of freedom only) is transformed to a system where one coordinate is proportional to the center of mass coordinate. The center of mass moves in a harmonic oscillator potential. The basis set of wave functions is constructed with Hermite polynomials in part. As example we study the case of a quadratic intrinsic potential between the particles. The problem may be important for the motion of three nucleons in a crystal channel.
