The process of technology transfer is complex and involves a series of factors and variables. Within this process, it is common that transferor and transferee might face several barriers. Furthermore, processes involving innovation and technology transfer must consider the impacts for the sustainable development. Taking these aspects into account, this paper aims to identify the barriers and opportunities in technology transfer oriented to sustainable development. To reach this goal, a systematic review of literature was carried out using the methodology Methodi Ordinatio. A portfolio composed of 107 scientific articles was built. The results demonstrate the main barriers, among which we can mention unavailability of financial resources or subsidies to obtain or implement a certain technology, and bureaucracy to obtain these resources. On the other hand, some opportunities can also be found, like Clean Development Mechanism and policies and regulations that favour the adoption and diffusion of clean technologies. Thus, this paper contributes to the academy by exploring the interconnections of Technology Transfer and Sustainable Development in the literature. This paper also contributes to the presentation of knowledge resources — information regarding barriers and opportunities to technology transfer oriented to sustainable development — so that governments and decision makers could define policies and strategies for a more effective process.

Knowledge sharing (KS) is a social phenomenon, and whether or not academics practise KS depends mostly on their individual and social characteristics. Although KS is informed by culture, the external validity of the empirical results of most of the research investigating the influence of culture, defined and operationalised at the macro (national or organisational) level, on KS is problematic since the cultural orientation of individuals in a particular society or organisation may not be homogeneous. This study adopted a Theory of Reasoned Action-based model to analyze the influence of espoused individualism–collectivism (IC), espoused uncertainty avoidance (UCA), social norm (SN), and attitude (ATT) on academics’ KS intentions and behaviours. The results are derived using a data set from a large public Arabian University. SN, ATT, and intention positively influence KS behaviour. Collectivism positively influences SN, ATT, intention, and behaviour. Unexpectedly, uncertainty tolerance positively influences ATT and intention. These results provide significant statistical support for the explanatory power of the model. They also put forward empirically based evidence that adds much-needed nuance to the current discourse on KS intention and behaviour and informs policies and strategies that enhance KS in the academe.

This study investigated factors influencing knowledge sharing behaviour of police officers in the Nigerian Police Force. A modified Theory of Reasoned Action was adopted in which extrinsic and intrinsic motivation contexts were considered as well as trust, leadership and information technology. Using the descriptive survey design, data were collected from 134 police officers at Oyo State Police Headquarters, Ibadan. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Data were analysed using frequency and percentage distribution and correlation. Findings revealed that all the variables did not have a significant association with knowledge sharing attitude. Also, attitude did not significantly influence police officers’ intentions to share knowledge. Of the four motivational factors, rewards, reciprocal benefits and enjoyment in helping others were significantly associated with knowledge sharing intentions. Leadership and trust were also shown to significantly influence police officers’ intentions to share knowledge.

The concerned study invariably presents the key findings of the scientometric analysis of Solar Cell Research (SCR) in the specific context of Africa and India. The outstanding contributions explicitly delivered by the successful collaboration of African and Indian authors are satisfactorily accounted for in specific terms of published author, year-wise, research area, funding agencies, published citations, and h-index. The necessary data for the needed research was retrieved from the Web of Science from 2009–2018. The raw data was further analysed and properly presented using MS Excel and VOSviewer as the keyword network tool. An aggregate number of scholarly publications in the global scenario at 117,605, Africa and India typically contributed 2,932 and 7,848, respectively. Joint research of 92 academic journals, receiving citations of 1,348, was usually observed. The highest source of 394 (29.23%) was received overwhelmingly in 2018. Out of the 652 published authors contributing constructively to the remarkable collaboration, H. C. Swart, of the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa, contributed 14 publications, allegedly giving a 2.147% of the total count. This is followed by V. Kumar of the Indian Institute of Technology New Delhi (India); UCA (France); UFS (South Africa), which also contributed 12 publications measured at 1.84% of the total count of publications.

The conception of tourist destinations as knowledge-creating systems still shows substantial gaps, especially when it comes to destinations in Developing Countries. Building upon a theoretical enhancement of the concept of absorptive-capacity and backed by empirical findings from a rural destination of Azerbaijan, this paper presents a conceptual approach to model the activation of inter-organisational linkages as an ability of individual companies to recognise and valorise product-potentials in their destinations’ ecosystem. Using a triangulated methodology to analyse procedural, cultural and structural determinants for the absorption of innovation-knowledge, potentials for the creation of knowledge-networks are presented from the perspective of the Azerbaijani accommodation business.

Over the past three decades, there has been a growing interest in studying consumer behaviour directly through non-traditional, brain-based, approach using the basic knowledge of human neuroscience. This multidisciplinary approach has evolved into a new marketing branch, known as Neuromarketing, which goes inside the human brain to improve our knowledge of consumer behaviour. Neuromarketing traces neural circuit activities inside the brain using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology. This paper explores the existing literature on Neuromarketing to provide insights into the potential for improving our understanding of consumer behaviour. The paper concludes that Neuromarketing can offer a valuable opportunity to increase precision and validity of measuring consumer reactions to marketing activities, thus improve marketing knowledge of consumer choice behaviour. The paper also addresses the main ethical issues raised by critiques on the unprecedented access to consumers’ mind, and how advocates looked at such criticisms.

E-finance applications, being the significant outcome of the rapid developments in information technologies in the finance sector, have grown to be increasingly significant and beneficial. Time-saving e-finance applications are more important for healthcare professionals as they have an intensive work schedule. In this research, the healthcare professionals working in Turkey, the factors influencing their intention to use the e-finance application is intended to be examined. Data collected from a sample of 517 people, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, were analysed through Structural Equation Modelling. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the Trust variable has a major effect on healthcare workers’ intention to use e-finance. This research also finds that Personal Initiatives, Ease of Use and Usefulness have a positive and significant impact on the aforementioned dependent variable, respectively. As a result, findings that will increase the use of e-finance applications by healthcare professionals are presented in the study.

This research explores the direct and indirect effects of knowledge infrastructure capabilities in creating product/service innovation in small entrepreneurial companies in Jordan. The mediating effects of knowledge-based dynamic capabilities and moderating role of innovation culture and emotional intelligence are also investigated. To this end, questionnaire surveys were developed and administered to employees and managers of 29 small entrepreneurial companies, resulting in 202 respondents. Validation and reliability analyses were performed followed by structural equation modelling for hypotheses testing. The results demonstrated the positive direct effect of knowledge infrastructure capabilities on creating product/service innovation. The indirect effect was confirmed as knowledge-based dynamic capabilities partially mediated the link between knowledge infrastructure capabilities and product/service innovation, and this relationship was moderated by innovation culture and emotional intelligence. This research highlights that the innovation culture and emotional intelligence encourage and sustain employee actions. This moderating influence can help better understand the complex nature of product/service innovation. Moreover, the variables used in this study have been thoroughly examined in developed countries, application of this model is deemed appropriate in developing countries such as Jordan to provide empirical evidence from a non-Western perspective.

This study explored the use and acceptance by sixth-grade Kuwaiti English language teachers of the Telegram application as an information source and a knowledge-sharing tool that enables users to easily find, store and share useful learning information and enhances their teaching–learning practices. A mixed method approach was employed that included data triangulation: observation, a survey and a focus group to empirically reveal the results. The findings revealed that Telegram application was an effective source of textual and non-textual information as well as an information-sharing tool that saved time, effort and costs and overcame time and place limitations. Telegram’s various information sets allowed for the generation of innovative ideas, which improved the effectiveness of the teaching methods and accelerated language learning. The results of this study can assist information specialists to work collaboratively with teachers to plan and design information content for Telegram to support schools’ curriculum, complement teaching practices and develop learner’s information literacy skills.

The main aims of this research are threefold: (1) to create a new conceptual framework underlying the dimensions of unconscious knowledge; (2) to explore how people convert the knowledge they do not know into personal and useful knowledge; and (3) to identify the strategies of how the unconscious knowledge can emerge, in an individual way or with the help from an external agent. The paper presents a new conceptual framework based on the unconscious knowledge. Different mechanisms and strategies based on different ways to generate knowledge are proposed. The most important results of this paper are as follows: (1) a new conceptual framework that is based on the unknown knowledge creation; (2) new strategies that move from the unaware knowledge to the learned and conscious one; and (3) new tools, methodologies, and technologies to enhance the creation of this type of knowledge.

Given the global competition between organisations to deliver products and services, the need for integrated information is felt. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of the important technology tools which play an important role in the integration of information in the organisation and is a prerequisite for joining the global market. This study aims to experimentally test a framework for identifying the relationship between organisational learning capability, using an organisational resource planning system, end-user satisfaction and individual performance. The results can be used to adopt human resource policies in the organisation. Smart PLS 2 software is also used for data analysis as well as the structural equation modelling. The results show that organisational learning ability through user satisfaction and the use of organisational resource planning system affects the individual performance.

Concept drift detection algorithms have historically been faithful to the aged architecture of forcefully resetting the base classifiers for each detected drift. This approach prevents underlying classifiers becoming outdated as the distribution of a data stream shifts from one concept to another. In situations where both concept drift and temporal dependence are present within a data stream, forced resetting can cause complications in classifier evaluation. Resetting the base classifier too frequently when temporal dependence is present can cause classifier performance to appear successful, when in fact this is misleading. In this research, a novel architectural method for determining base classifier resets, Burst Detection-Based Selective Classifier Resetting (BD-SCR), is presented. BD-SCR statistically monitors changes in the temporal dependence of a data stream to determine if a base classifier should be reset for detected drifts. The experimental process compares the predictive performance of state-of-the-art drift detectors in comparison to the “No-Change” detector using BD-SCR to inform and control the resetting decision. Results show that BD-SCR effectively reduces the negative impact of temporal dependence during concept drift detection through a clear negation in the performance of the “No-Change” detector, but is capable of maintaining the predictive performance of state-of-the-art drift detection methods.
