Within the framework of Bianchi type-I spacetime we study the Bel–Robinson tensor and its impact on the evolution of the Universe. We use different definitions of the Bel–Robinson tensor existing in the literature and compare the results. Finally we investigate the so called "dominant super-energy property" for the Bel–Robinson tensor as a generalization of the usual dominant energy condition for energy momentum tensors.

The gauge-invariant loop variable formalism and old covariant formalism for bosonic open string theory are compared in this paper. It is expected that for the free theory, after gauge fixing, the loop variable fields can be mapped to those of the old covariant formalism in bosonic string theory, level by level. This is verified explicitly for the first two massive levels. It is shown that (in the critical dimension) the fields, constraints and gauge transformations can all be mapped from one to the other. Assuming this continues at all levels one can give general arguments that the tree S-matrix (integrated correlation functions for on-shell physical fields) is the same in both formalisms and therefore they describe the same physical theory (at tree level).

We explore the possibility of having baryogenesis at temperatures below any dilution mechanism, such as inflation or sphaleron effects at the electroweak transition. We find that large infrared CPT violation (CPTV) effects are a necessary ingredient for such a baryogenesis. We give an explicit example of a theory supporting this scenario at the kinematical level in which such CPTV effects are suppressed at the level of CPT tests based on mass differences between particle and antiparticle.

In order that nonsupersymmetric quiver gauge theories can satisfy naturalness requirements to all orders of perturbation theory, one expects a global symmetry similar to, but different from, supersymmetry. Consistent with the generalized no-go theorem published by Haag et al. in 1975, we suggest a generalization of supersymmetry to a misaligned supersymmetry where fermionic generators do not commute with gauge transformations. An explicit form for the corresponding field transformations is suggested.

It is shown that if general covariance is to be preserved (i.e. a coordinate system is not fixed) the well-known triviality of the Einstein field equations in two dimensions is not a sufficient condition for the Einstein–Hilbert action to be a total divergence. Consequently, a Hamiltonian formulation is possible without any modification of the two-dimensional Einstein–Hilbert action. We find the resulting constraints and the corresponding gauge transformations of the metric tensor.

It is shown that two specific properties of the unitary matrix V can be expressed directly in terms of the matrix elements and eigenvalues of the hermitian matrix M which is diagonalized by V. These are the asymmetry Δ(V) = |V₁₂|²-|V₂₁|², of V with respect to the main diagonal and the Jarlskog invariant . These expressions for Δ(V) and J(V) provide constraints on possible mass matrices from the available data on V.

By analyzing the characters of thermo field dynamics, which is proposed by Takahashi and Umezawa, we find that a new physical state, named the thermo-invariant coherent state, should exist in thermal equilibrium. This state not only maintains the whole energy of the system and the reservoir but is also a coherent state. We find its explicit form, its relation to the thermal coherent state and the thermal entangled state. When the whole system is in this state, annihilating a quantum of the system and in the meanwhile annihilating a hole with negative energy in the reservoir will not change the whole energy.
