We discuss the AdS/CFT correspondence in which spacetime emerges from an interacting theory of D-branes and open strings. These ideas have a historical continuity with QCD which is an interacting theory of quarks and gluons. In particular, we review the classic case of D3 branes and the non-conformal D1 brane system. We outline by some illustrative examples the calculations that are enabled in a strongly coupled gauge theory by correspondence with dynamical horizons in semiclassical gravity in one higher dimension. We also discuss implications of the gauge fluid/gravity correspondence for the information paradox of black hole physics.

The Gödel-type metrics are considered as backgrounds of the sigma-models. In the conformal field theory such backgrounds are deformed by the exactly marginal operators. We examine, how the closed timelike curves (CTCs) transform under such deformations.

We consider the model, which contains a nonminimal coupling of Dirac spinors to torsion. Due to the action for torsion that breaks parity, the left–right asymmetry of the spinors appears. This construction is used in order to provide dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking. Namely, we arrange all Standard Model fermions in the left-handed spinors. The additional technifermions are arranged in right-handed spinors. Due to the interaction with torsion, the technifermions are condensed and, therefore, cause appearance of the gauge boson masses. In order to provide all fermions with masses, we consider two possibilities. The first one is related to an additional coupling of a real massive scalar field to the considered spinors. The second possibility is to introduce the explicit mass term for the mentioned Dirac spinors composed of the Standard Model fermions and the technifermions.

We study the axial anomaly problem in a non-Abelian topologically massive BF model with fermion coupling. The fermion is coupled to the vector and the tensor gauge fields in a non-minimal way.

We investigate isovector pygmy dipole resonance (IVPDR) for the case of neutron-rich nuclei ⁶⁸Ni, ¹³⁰Sn and ¹³⁴Sn using effective nucleon–nucleon Skyrme interaction. We use the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov (HFB) theory and employ the (quasiparticle) random phase approximation (Q)RPA. We calculate and compare the PDR strength in the PDR energy region for the case of density dependent central and full interaction modes for RPA and QRPA calculations. We observe that the results for the pygmy dipole resonance for neutron-rich soft nuclei ⁶⁸Ni that we consider are in reasonable agreement with their experimental results in both interactions and calculations. We also study the PDR for highly neutron-rich heavy nuclei, such as ¹³⁰Sn and ¹³⁴Sn. We see that only the QRPA calculation with full interaction is in good agreement with the experimental results for these nuclei and with a recent study in the literature. We find that the PDR strength distribution sensitively depends on the chosen interaction modes, especially for the neutron-rich heavy nuclei ¹³⁴Sn.

It is shown that Hamiltonians of the form H(s) = (1 - s)H_- + sH₊, 0 ≤ s ≤ 1 where H_± are supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians corresponding to position-dependent mass Schrödinger equations are exactly solvable for a number of deformed shape-invariant potentials. The method has also been extended to a system with broken supersymmetry.

We classify a recently proposed action for a free particle which is compatible with Hořava–Lifshitz gravity, and then obtain the subluminal and the superluminal limits without gauge ambiguity in terms of Hamiltonian formulation.
