We present a review of the operation and of the most recent results from the LHCb experiment at the LHC collider, based on the analyses performed using the data collected in 2010 and 2011, which correspond to an integrated luminosity of ~ 1 fb^-1. These measurements set stringent new limits on the contributions of New Physics processes in the field of rare b decays, and in the search for CP violation in B⁰ and mesons decays. In addition, a summary of results from studies of CP violation in the charm sector are presented, together with measurements in quarkonia production, in spectroscopy, in electroweak physics and in searches for exotica. The planned upgrade of LHCb is also briefly discussed.

An explicit solution to classical master equations of the Sp(2)-symmetric Hamiltonian BRST quantization scheme is presented in the case of irreducible gauge theories. A realization of the observable algebra is constructed.

Exact bound state solutions of the Dirac equation for the Kratzer potential in the presence of a tensor potential are studied by using the Laplace transform approach for the cases of spin- and pseudo-spin symmetry. The energy spectrum is obtained in the closed form for the relativistic as well as non-relativistic cases including the Coulomb potential. It is seen that our analytical results are in agreement with the ones given in the literature. The numerical results are also given in a table for different parameter values.

We investigate the lepton flavor violation decays of vector mesons in the scenario of the unparticle physics by considering the constraint from μ-e conversion. In unparticle physics, the predictions of LFV decays of vector mesons depend strongly on the scale dimension . The predictions of LFV decays of vector mesons can reach the detective sensitivity in experiment in region of , while the prediction of μ-e conversion rate can meet the experimental upper limit. For the searching of the lepton flavor violation processes of charged lepton sector in experiment, the process ϒ→eμ may be a promising one to be observed.

An extensive theoretical search for the proton magic number in the superheavy valley beyond Z = 82 and the corresponding neutron magic number after N = 126 is carried out. For this we scanned a wide range of elements Z = 112–130 and their isotopes. The well-established non-relativistic Skryme–Hartree–Fock and Relativistic Mean Field formalisms with various force parameters are used. Based on the calculated systematics of pairing gap, two-neutron separation energy and the shell correction energy for these nuclei, we find Z = 120 as the next proton magic and N = 172, 182/184, 208 and 258 the subsequent neutron magic numbers.

The relationship between local Weyl scaling invariant models and local dilatation invariant actions is critically scrutinized. While actions invariant under local Weyl scalings can be constructed in a straightforward manner, actions invariant under local dilatation transformations can only be achieved in a very restrictive case. The invariant couplings of matter fields to an Abelian vector field carrying a nontrivial scaling weight can be easily built, but an invariant Abelian vector kinetic term can only be realized when the local scale symmetry is spontaneously broken.

The Klein–Gordon equation in the presence of generalized Coulomb potential is solved and the quasi-exact solutions are obtained via the sl(2) algebraization. The condition of quasi-exact solvability is derived by matching the condition of invariant subspace on the problem. The Lie-algebraic approach of quasi-exact solvability is applied to the problem and the (n+1)×(n+1) matrix for finite values of n is obtained in quite a detailed manner and thereby the finite part of the spectrum is obtained.

In this paper we suggest an approach to analyze the motion of a test particle in the spacetime of a global monopole within a f(R)-like modified gravity. The field equations are written in a simplified form in terms of . Since we are dealing with a spherically symmetric metric, we express F(R) as a function of the radial coordinate only, e.g., . So, the choice of a specific form for f(R) will be equivalent to adopt an Ansatz for . By choosing an explicit functional form for , we obtain the weak field solutions for the metric tensor also compute the time-like geodesics and analyze the motion of a massive test particle. An interesting feature is an emerging attractive force exerted by the monopole on the particle.
