Recent years have witnessed a number of beautiful experiments in radiation optics. Our purpose with this paper is to highlight some developments of radiation pressure physics in general, and thereafter to focus on the importance of the mentioned experiments in regard to the classic Abraham–Minkowski problem. That means, what is the “correct” expression for electromagnetic momentum density in continuous matter. In our opinion, one often sees that authors over-interpret the importance of their experimental findings with respect to the momentum problem. Most of these experiments are actually unable to discriminate between these energy–momentum tensors at all, since they can be easily described in terms of force expressions that are common for Abraham and Minkowski. Moreover, we emphasize the inherent ambiguity in applying the formal conservation principles to the radiation field in a dielectric, the reason being that the electromagnetic field in matter is only a subsystem which has to be supplemented by the mechanical subsystem to be closed. Finally, we make some suggestions regarding the connection between macroscopic electrodynamics and the Casimir effect, suggesting that there is a limit for the magnitudes of the cutoff parameters in QFT related to surface tension in ordinary hydromechanics.

We give a brief overview of beyond the Standard Model (BSM) theories with an extended scalar sector and their phenomenological status in the light of recent experimental results. We discuss the relevant theoretical and experimental constraints, and show their impact on the allowed parameter space of two specific models: the real scalar singlet extension of the Standard Model (SM) and the Inert Doublet Model. We emphasize the importance of the LHC measurements, both the direct searches for additional scalar bosons, as well as the precise measurements of properties of the Higgs boson of mass 125 GeV. We show the complementarity of these measurements to electroweak and dark matter observables.

In this paper, we define the Pauli Hamiltonian function for the twist-deformed N-enlarged Newton–Hooke spacetime provided by M. Daszkiewicz [Mod. Phys. Lett. A 27, 1250083 (2012)]. Further, we derive its energy spectrum, i.e. we find the corresponding eigenvalues as well as the proper eigenfunctions.

We describe the gauge invariant BRST formulation of a particle constrained to move in a general conic. The model considered constitutes an explicit example of an originally second-class system which can be quantized within the BRST framework. We initially impose the conic constraint by means of a Lagrange multiplier leading to a consistent second-class system which generalizes previous models studied in the literature. After calculating the constraint structure and the corresponding Dirac brackets, we introduce a suitable first-order Lagrangian, the resulting modified system is then shown to be gauge invariant. We proceed to the extended phase space introducing fermionic ghost variables, exhibiting the BRST symmetry transformations and writing the Green’s function generating functional for the BRST quantized model.

In this paper, we have proposed a generalized parametrization for the deceleration parameter q in order to study the evolutionary history of the universe. We have shown that the proposed model can reproduce three well known q-parametrized models for some specific values of the model parameter $\alpha$. We have used the latest compilation of the Hubble parameter measurements obtained from the cosmic chronometer (CC) method (in combination with the local value of the Hubble constant $H_0$) and the Type Ia supernova (SNIa) data to place constraints on the parameters of the model for different values of $\alpha$. We have found that the resulting constraints on the deceleration parameter and the dark energy equation of state support the $\mathrm{\Lambda }$CDM model within $1\sigma$ confidence level at the present epoch.

In the framework of the left–right twin Higgs (LRTH) model, we investigate the single top partner production at lepton colliders. We calculate the production cross-sections of the processes $e^{-}\gamma \to {\nu }_{e}b\bar{T}$, $e^{-}{e}^{+}\to W^{-}\bar{b}T$ $(W^{+}b\bar{T})$ and $\gamma \gamma \to W^{-}\bar{b}T$ $(W^{+}b\bar{T})$ at $\sqrt{s}=2.0$ TeV, and display some typical differential distributions of the final state particles.

In string theory with ten dimensions, all Dp-branes are constructed from D0-branes whose action has two-dimensional brackets of Lie 2-algebra. Also, in M-theory, with 11 dimensions, all Mp-branes are built from M0-branes whose action contains three-dimensional brackets of Lie 3-algebra. In these theories, the reason for difference between bosons and fermions is unclear and especially in M-theory there is not any stable object like stable M3-branes on which our universe would be formed on it and for this reason it cannot help us to explain cosmological events. For this reason, we construct G-theory with M dimensions whose branes are formed from G0-branes with N-dimensional brackets. In this theory, we assume that at the beginning there is nothing. Then, two energies, which differ in their signs only, emerge and produce 2M degrees of freedom. Each two degrees of freedom create a new dimension and then M dimensions emerge. M-N of these degrees of freedom are removed by symmetrically compacting half of M-N dimensions to produce Lie-N-algebra. In fact, each dimension produces a degree of freedom. Consequently, by compacting M-N dimensions from M dimensions, N dimensions and N degrees of freedom is emerged. These N degrees of freedoms produce Lie-N-algebra. During this compactification, some dimensions take extra i and are different from other dimensions, which are known as time coordinates. By this compactification, two types of branes, Gp and anti-Gp-branes, are produced and rank of tensor fields which live on them changes from zero to dimension of brane. The number of time coordinates, which are produced by negative energy in anti-Gp-branes, is more sensible to number of times in Gp-branes. These branes are compactified anti-symmetrically and then fermionic superpartners of bosonic fields emerge and supersymmetry is born. Some of gauge fields play the role of graviton and gravitino and produce the supergravity. The question may arise that what is the physical reason which shows that this theory is true. We shown that G-theory can be reduced to other theories like nonlinear gravity theories in four dimensions. Also, this theory, can explain the physical properties of fermions and bosons. On the other hand, this theory explains the origin of supersymmetry. For this reason, we can prove that this theory is true. By reducing the dimension of algebra to three and dimension of world to 11 and dimension of brane to four, G-theory is reduced to F(R)-gravity.

In this work, we consider the effect of the cosmological constant on galactic halo size. As a model, we study the general relativistic derivation of orbits in the Schwarzschild–de Sitter metric. We find that there exists a length scale $r_{\mathrm{\Lambda }}$ corresponding to a maximum size of a circular orbit of a test mass in a gravitationally bound system, which is the geometric mean of the cosmological horizon size squared and the Schwarzschild radius. This agrees well with the size of a galactic halo when the effects of dark matter are included. The size of larger structures such as galactic clusters and superclusters are also well-approximated by this scale. This model provides a simplified approach to computing the size of such structures without the usual detailed dynamical models. Some of the more detailed approaches that appear in the literature are reviewed, and we find the length scales agree to within a factor of order one. Finally, we note the length scale associated with the effects of MOND or Verlinde’s emergent gravity, which offer explanations of the flattening of galaxy rotation curves without invoking dark matter, may be expressed as the geometric mean of the cosmological horizon size and the Schwarzschild radius, which is typically 100 times smaller than $r_{\mathrm{\Lambda }}$.

The Klein–Gordon equation is extended in the presence of an Aharonov–Bohm magnetic field for the Cornell potential and the corresponding wave functions as well as the spectra are obtained. After introducing the superstatistics in the statistical mechanics, we first derived the effective Boltzmann factor in the deformed formalism with modified Dirac delta distribution. We then use the concepts of the superstatistics to calculate the thermodynamics properties of the system. The well-known results are recovered by the vanishing of deformation parameter and some graphs are plotted for the clarity of our results.

Gravitoelectromagnetism (GEM) is an approach for the gravitation field that is described using the formulation and terminology similar to that of electromagnetism. The Lorentz violation is considered in the formulation of GEM that is covariant in its form. In practice, such a small violation of the Lorentz symmetry may be expected in a unified theory at very high energy. In this paper, a non-minimal coupling term, which exhibits Lorentz violation, is added as a new term in the covariant form. The differential cross-section for Bhabha scattering in the GEM framework at finite temperature is calculated that includes Lorentz violation. The Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism is used to calculate the total differential cross-section at finite temperature. The contribution due to Lorentz violation is isolated from the total cross-section. It is found to be small in magnitude.
