A detailed study of charge transport properties of synthetic and genomic DNA sequences is reported. Genomic sequences of the Chromosome 22, λ-bacteriophage, and D1s80 genes of Human and Pygmy chimpanzee are considered in this work, and compared with both periodic and quasiperiodic (Fibonacci) sequences of nucleotides. Charge transfer efficiency is compared for all these different sequences, and large variations in charge transfer efficiency, stemming from sequence-dependent effects, are reported. In addition, basic characteristics of tunneling currents, including contact effects, are described. Finally, the thermoelectric power of nucleobases connected in between metallic contacts at different temperatures is presented.

We consider two probabilistic cellular automata to analyze the stochastic dynamics of a biological two-species system. We focus our attention on the characterization of the dynamic patterns exhibited by both models. Performing Monte Carlo simulations, we observe a time oscillating behavior that occurs at a local level.

The heavy ion irradiation simulation of neutron and/or proton irradiation has been verified experimentally by the detailed study of radiation damage in α-Al₂O₃ irradiated at the equivalent dose by 5.28×10¹⁵cm^-285 MeV¹⁹F ions and by 3×10²⁰cm^-2 E_n≥1MeV neutrons, respectively. The radiation damage created by irradiation was examined by a positron annihilation lifetime technique. The positron annihilation parameters of lifetime and intensity obtained for both irradiations in α-Al₂O₃ are all in good agreement. This demonstrates that the heavy ion irradiation can well simulate the neutron and/or proton irradiation.

We study the Car-Oriented Mean-Field approximation (COMF) to the Nagel–Schreckenberg model in the case of v_max=3. The self-consistent equations are obtained. The solution is reached by the method of iteration. When the stochastic noise is small, the numerical simulations can be well described by the mean-field theory. When the stochastic noise is large, the flux around critical density is overestimated. The overshooting of the free flow can be attributed to the collective effect of the stochastic noise.

Within the kinetic energy driven superconducting mechanism, the interplay between the single particle coherence and superconducting instability in doped cuprates is studied. The superconducting transition temperature increases with increasing doping in the underdoped regime, and reaches a maximum in the optimal doping, then decreases in the overdoped regime, however, the values of this superconducting transition temperature in the whole superconducting range are suppressed to low temperature due to the single particle coherence. Within this superconducting mechanism, we calculate the dynamical spin structure factor of cuprate superconductors, and reproduce all main features of inelastic neutron scattering experiments in the superconducting-state.

An approximate relationship for the coefficient of optical absorption valid, in principle, for the infrared range, corresponding to K₂CuCl₄·2H₂O-type compounds is derived from a model for electronic density of states. These compounds are assumed to be partially disordered from the point of view of the general theory of solids.

We investigate the entanglement of pair coherent states in the phase damping channel by adopting the relative entropy of entanglement and propose a protocol of teleportation via pair coherent states. The fidelity of the protocol is then analyzed and the influence of phase damping on the teleportation fidelity examined.
