Based on the optical resonance principle and the tight-binding theory, a hybrid mirror chirped porous silicon photonic crystal is proposed. The control of the defect mode in hybrid mirror chirped porous silicon photonic crystal is studied. Through the numerical simulation, the control regulations of the defect modes resulted by the number of the periodical layers for the fundamental unit and the cascading number of the chirped structures are analyzed, and the split and the degeneration of the defect modes resulted by the change of the relative location between the mirror structures and the quasi-mirror structures are discussed. The simulation results show that the band gap would be broadened with the increase of the chirp quantity and the layer number of unilateral chirp. Adjusting the structural parameters of the hybrid mirror structure, the multimode characteristics will occur in the band gap. The more the cascading number of the chirped units, the more the number of the filtering channels will be. In addition, with the increase of the relative location between the mirror structures and the quasi-mirror structures, the degeneration of the defect modes will occur and can obtain high Q value. The structure can provide effective theoretical references for the design the multi-channel filters and high Q value sensors.

In this paper, the N-fold Darboux transformation of the Suris system is established by gauge transformation of the Lax pair. As a result, the N-fold exact solutions of the Suris system are derived in terms of the determinant. It is shown that this system can support certain abundant and peculiar nonlinear structures, which may explain some interesting physical phenomena. Moreover, the infinitely many conservation laws of the Suris system are given.

Using Crank–Nicolson method, we calculate ground state wave functions of two-component dipolar Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) and show that, due to dipole–dipole interaction (DDI), the condensate mixture displays anisotropic phase separation. The effects of DDI, inter-component s-wave scattering, strength of trap potential and particle numbers on the density profiles are investigated. Three types of two-component profiles are present, first cigar, along z-axis and concentric torus, second pancake (or blood cell), in xy-plane, and two non-uniform ellipsoid, separated by the pancake and third two dumbbell shapes.

Didi Dache is the most popular taxi order mobile app in China, which provides online taxi-hailing service. The obtained big database from this app could be used to analyze the complexities’ day-to-day dynamic evolution of Didi taxi trip network (DTTN) from the level of complex network dynamics. First, this paper proposes the data cleaning and modeling methods for expressing Nanjing’s DTTN as a complex network. Second, the three consecutive weeks’ data are cleaned to establish 21 DTTNs based on the proposed big data processing technology. Then, multiple topology measures that characterize the complexities’ day-to-day dynamic evolution of these networks are provided. Third, these measures of 21 DTTNs are calculated and subsequently explained with actual implications. They are used as a training set for modeling the BP neural network which is designed for predicting DTTN complexities evolution. Finally, the reliability of the designed BP neural network is verified by comparing with the actual data and the results obtained from ARIMA method simultaneously. Because network complexities are the basis for modeling cascading failures and conducting link prediction in complex system, this proposed research framework not only provides a novel perspective for analyzing DTTN from the level of system aggregated behavior, but can also be used to improve the DTTN management level.

The titanium dioxide (TiO₂) is synthesized by sol–gel method using titanium-tetra-iso-propoxide (TTIP) as a starting material, and deposited on the pre-cleaned glass substrate using spin coating technique at optimized parameters. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy confirms successful TiO₂ growth. The optical properties concerning the transmission and absorption spectra show 85% transparency and 3.28 eV wide optical band gap for indirect transition, calculated from absorbance. The exponential behavior of absorption edge is observed and attributed to the localized states electronic transitions, curtailed in the indirect band gap of the thin film. The film reveals decreasing refractive index with increasing wavelength. The photoluminescence (PL) study ascertains that luminescent properties are due to the surface defects.

Domain walls are a basic ingredient of spintronic devices, nowadays. In this paper, a mathematical model for the solution of domain wall problems will be derived from a micromagnetic semiclassical approach. This model will prove to be suitable for the description of both Néel and Bloch walls, particularly in the case of magnetization uniformity distribution along the wall length of a uniaxial magnetic ultrathin film.

Some existing papers focused on finite-time parameter identification and synchronization, but provided incomplete theoretical analyses. Such works incorporated conflicting constraints for parameter identification, therefore, the practical significance could not be fully demonstrated. To overcome such limitations, the underlying paper presents new results of parameter identification and synchronization for uncertain complex dynamical networks with impulsive effect and stochastic perturbation based on finite-time stability theory. Novel results of parameter identification and synchronization control criteria are obtained in a finite time by utilizing Lyapunov function and linear matrix inequality respectively. Finally, numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

This study demonstrates the feasibility of a view-based method, the motion history image (MHI) to map biospeckle activity around the scar region in a green orange fruit. The comparison of MHI with the routine intensity-based methods validated the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that MHI can be implementated as an alternative online image processing tool in the biospeckle analysis.

There are growing numbers of experimental evidences that the self-field critical currents, $J_c(\mathrm{\text{sf}},T)$, are a new instructive tool to investigate fundamental properties of superconductors ranging from atomically thin films [M. Liao et al., Nat. Phys. 6 (2018), https://doi.org/10.1038/s41567-017-0031-6; E. F. Talantsev et al., 2D Mater. 4 (2017) 025072; A. Fete et al., Appl. Phys. Lett. 109 (2016) 192601] to millimeter-scale samples [E. F. Talantsev et al., Sci. Rep. 7 (2017) 10010]. The basic empirical equation which quantitatively accurately described experimental $J_c(\mathrm{\text{sf}},T)$ was proposed by Talantsev and Tallon [Nat. Commun. 6 (2015) 7820] and it was the relevant critical field (i.e. thermodynamic field, $B_c$, for type-I and lower critical field, $B_{c1}$, for type-II superconductors) divided by the London penetration depth, ${\lambda }_L$. In this paper, we report new findings relating to this empirical equation. It is that the critical wavelength of the de Broglie wave, ${\lambda }_{\mathrm{\text{dB}},c}$, of the superconducting charge carrier which within a numerical pre-factor is equal to the largest of two characteristic lengths of Ginzburg–Landau theory, i.e. the coherence length, $\xi$, for type-I superconductors or the London penetration depth, ${\lambda }_L$, for type-II superconductors. We also formulate a microscopic criterion for the onset of dissipative transport current flow: $p_s\cdot \frac{2\cdot {\lambda }_L}{ln(1+\sqrt{2}\cdot (\frac{{\lambda }_L}{\xi }))}\ge \frac{1}{2}\cdot (\frac{h}{2\pi })$, where $p_s$ is the charge carrier momentum, $h$ is Planck’s constant and the inequality sign “$<$” is reserved for the dissipation-free flow.

In this paper, a robust image encryption technique that utilizes Fourier–Mellin moments and intertwining logistic map is proposed. Fourier–Mellin moment-based intertwining logistic map has been designed to overcome the issue of low sensitivity of an input image. Multi-objective Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) based on Reinforcement Learning (MNSGA-RL) has been used to optimize the required parameters of intertwining logistic map. Fourier–Mellin moments are used to make the secret keys more secure. Thereafter, permutation and diffusion operations are carried out on input image using secret keys. The performance of proposed image encryption technique has been evaluated on five well-known benchmark images and also compared with seven well-known existing encryption techniques. The experimental results reveal that the proposed technique outperforms others in terms of entropy, correlation analysis, a unified average changing intensity and the number of changing pixel rate. The simulation results reveal that the proposed technique provides high level of security and robustness against various types of attacks.

This paper is concerned with the exponential lag function projective synchronization of memristive multidirectional associative memory neural networks (MMAMNNs). First, we propose a new model of MMAMNNs with mixed time-varying delays. In the proposed approach, the mixed delays include time-varying discrete delays and distributed time delays. Second, we design two kinds of hybrid controllers. Traditional control methods lack the capability of reflecting variable synaptic weights. In this paper, the controllers are carefully designed to confirm the process of different types of synchronization in the MMAMNNs. Third, sufficient criteria guaranteeing the synchronization of system are derived based on the derive-response concept. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism is validated with numerical experiments.

In the paper [Mod. Phys. Lett. B 31 (2017) 1750150], Yin et al. proposed a semi-quantum secret sharing scheme by using Bell states. We find that the proposed scheme cannot finish the quantum secret sharing task. In addition, we also find that the proposed scheme has a security loophole, that is, it will not be detected that the dishonest participant, Charlie attacks on the quantum channel.

In this work, a heterogeneous traffic flow model coupled with the periodic boundary condition is proposed. Based on the previous models, a heterogeneous system composed of more than one kind of vehicles is considered. By bifurcation analysis, bifurcation patterns of the heterogeneous system are discussed in three situations in detail and illustrated by diagrams of bifurcation patterns. Besides, the stability analysis of the heterogeneous system is performed to test its anti-interference ability. The relationship between the number of vehicles and the stability is obtained. Furthermore, the attractor analysis is applied to investigate the nature of the heterogeneous system near its steady-state neighborhood. Phase diagrams of the process of the heterogeneous system from initial state to equilibrium state are intuitively presented.

As a consequence of their practical implications for communications networks, traffic dynamics on complex networks have recently captivated researchers. Previous routing strategies for improving transport efficiency have paid little attention to the orders in which the packets should be forwarded, just simply used first-in–first-out queue discipline. Here, we apply a priority queuing discipline and propose a shortest-distance-first routing strategy on networks of mobile agents. Numerical experiments reveal that the proposed scheme remarkably improves both the network throughput and the packet arrival rate and reduces both the average traveling time and the rate of waiting time to traveling time. Moreover, we find that the network capacity increases with an increase in both the communication radius and the number of agents. Our work may be helpful for the design of routing strategies on networks of mobile agents.
