Coupling resonance effect of interface delamination of laminates excited by horizontal shear wave sources on the surface is studied by analytical methods based on forced propagation solutions deduced by surface perturbation methods, integral transformation methods and global-matrix methods. The influence of excitation sources on the interface shear stress is investigated. It is found that coupling resonance frequencies of interface shear stress are intrinsic properties of structures and are independent of excitation sources, at which even a very small perturbation can also lead to the interface stratification. The results provide the theoretical basis for layered and/or anti-layered design of laminates.

This paper analyzes the thermoelastic dynamic behavior of simply supported viscoelastic nanobeams of fractional derivative type due to a dynamic strength load. The viscoelastic Kelvin–Voigt model with fractional derivative with Bernoulli–Euler beam theory is introduced. The generalized thermoelastic heat conduction model with a two-phase lag is also used. It is assumed that the beam is rotating at a uniform angular velocity and that the thermal conductivity varies linearly depending on the temperature. Due to a variable harmonic heat and retreating time-dependent load, the nanobeam is excited. The Laplace integral transformation technique is used as the solution method. The thermodynamic temperature, deflection function, bending moment, and displacement are numerically calculated. Results of fractional and integer viscoelastic material models are compared. In the studied system, the effect of the nonlocal parameter, viscosity and varying load on the solutions is shown, and the temperature-dependence of the thermal conductivity is analyzed.

In this paper, we discuss the average path length for a class of scale-free modular networks with deterministic growth. To facilitate the analysis, we define the sum of distances from all nodes to the nearest hub nodes and the nearest peripheral nodes. For the unweighted network, we find that whether the scale-free modular network is single-hub or multiple-hub, the average path length grows logarithmically with the increase of nodes number. For the weighted network, we deduce that when the network iteration $t$ tends to infinity, the average weighted shortest path length is bounded, and the result is independent of the connection method of network.

To investigate the hydrodynamics of undulatory swimming, a key issue in numerical analysis is to determine the correlation between undulatory locomotion and the flow characteristics. In this study, a novel dynamic-grid generation method, the adaptive control method, is implemented to deal with the moving and morphing boundaries in an unsteady flow field at all Reynolds numbers. This method, based on structured grids, can ensure the orthogonality and absolute controllability of the grids and is performed to precisely simulate the wake and the boundary layer. The NACA0010 wing is employed as a two-dimensional (2D) body model of a fish in the simulations. To maintain the calculation stability, the increase stage of the amplitude is defined as a smooth transitional stage. Analysis of hydrodynamic coefficients reveals that undulation results in a significant increase of frictional force in laminar flow $(\mathrm{\text{Re}}\le 10^4)$. However, the undulation also results in a reduction of the frictional force when the fish swims in turbulent flow $(\mathrm{\text{Re}}\ge 10^6)$. The vorticity distribution and the $Q$-criterion are both used to accurately capture the shedding vortexes in the wake. Furthermore, these vortex pairs have a substantial impact on the turbulence and the wake, in which the turbulent kinetic energy and the turbulent viscosity ratio both decrease at $\mathrm{\text{Re}}\ge 10^6$. The wake of an undulatory fish presents different vortex patterns with various kinematic parameters. When the phase velocity is greater than the incoming velocity and the wave number is sufficiently large, thrust is yielded, accompanying the distinct reverse Karman Street in the wake.

A particular attention is paid to the nonlinear dynamical exact wave solutions to the (2 + 1)-dimensional Date–Jimbo–Kashiwara–Miwa equation (DJKME). A variety of solutions are extracted in different shapes like dark, singular, dark-singular by implementing $(\frac{G^{\prime }}{G^2})$-expansion function method and modified direct algebraic method. In addition, we also secure singular periodic and plane wave solutions with arbitrary parameters. We also discussed the modulation instability analysis of the governing model. The constraint conditions for the validity of existence of solutions are also reported. Moreover, three-dimensional and two-dimensional, and their corresponding contour graphs are sketched for a better understanding of the derived solutions with the values of arbitrary parameters.

Link prediction of complex network intends to estimate the probability of existence of links between two nodes. In order to improve link prediction accuracy and fully exploit the potentialities of nodes, many studies focus more on the influence of degree on nodes but less on the hybrid influence of degree and H-index. The nodes with a larger degree have more neighbors, and the nodes with larger H-index have more neighbors of neighbors. Meanwhile, weak ties consisting of neighbors with a small degree have powerful strength of intermediary ability and a high probability of passing similarity. A novel link prediction model is proposed considering the hybrid influence of degree and H-index and weak ties, which is called Hybrid Weak Influence, marked as HWI. After experimenting with nine real datasets, the results show that this method can significantly improve the link prediction accuracy, compared with the empirical methods: Common Neighbors (CN), Resource-Allocation (RA) and Adamic/Adar (AA). Meanwhile, the computation complexity is less than the long path algorithm of LP, SRW, PCEN.

Ranking of sports teams has always been significant to sponsors, coaches, as well as audiences. Prevailing prediction methods investigate probabilities by taking into account of different kinds of attributes (e.g. field goals, fields goal attempts) in order to establish a detail-based mechanism for analyzing the capability among competing teams. The different types of activation and inhibition actions between athletes provide a considerable challenge in the framework of network analysis. Moreover, these attributes interactions might add up the substantial redundancy to network frame as well. This paper proposes a weighted PageRank algorithm based on the normalized basketball match scores from a macroscopic point of view. Taking Chinese Basketball Association and Chinese University Basketball Association as examples, the developed approach takes into account the win/lose nature of interactions between each pair of competing teams in the framework of PageRank network. We also evolve a weighted network model for the network matrix which highlights the capability difference of teams whose PageRank probabilities are most sensitive with respect to the scores of the two competing teams. The chance of championship of teams can be better demonstrated by the PageRank probabilities. The results show that our method achieves more precise predicting result than that of original PageRank algorithm and Hypertext-Induced Topic Search algorithm.

The nanomaterials, due to improved thermal consequences, intended the researcher’s attention in recent decade due to several engineering applications. The concept of boundary layer is quite necessitated in era of engineering like furnishing of different objects designs to control the drag force in case of flow of various working fluids. This theoretical nanofluid continuation aims to access the thermal aspects of hybrid nanomaterials in flow of non-Newtonian fluids confined by a moving belt. The hybrid characteristics of hybrid nanofluid are examined with multiple suspension of Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with base material ethylene glycol (EG) and water. The conservation laws and thermal features are incorporated to model the governing equations of hybrid nanofluid problem. The mathematical relations for model’s parameters are developed with applications of experimental modeling and justifications. The results in the form of velocity and temperature profiles for boundary layer regions are calculated with influence of different nanoparticles volume fractions and displaced by graphically. The altered developed pattern of momentum as well as thermal boundary layer thickness is accessed with associated boundary growth.

In this paper, we propose a two-dimensional (2D) boundary element method (BEM) to explore the coupling properties of two distorted graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with wrinkles. From the calculation results, it is found that the resonant wavelengths are redshifted compared with a single GNR, and the scattering intensity is greatly increased, due to the coupling between the two GNRs. In the non-degenerate structure, the coupling resonance modes of the two GNRs are the superposition of the resonance modes of every single GNR, and the resonant wavelength and scattering intensity of different modes change differently with the gap between the two GNRs and their heights. When the coupling effect becomes stronger, some modes will split. We explain the results through the charge and current distribution of the GNRs. This work will help to understand the coupling mechanism of surface plasmon resonances of GNRs.

We develop the complete hydrodynamical description of the spin-1 partially polarized Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC), based on the many-particle quantum hydrodynamic formalism. We derive the continuity equation, momentum balance equation, spin evolution and nematicity evolution equations considering the spin–spin dipole long-range interactions and short-range interactions between partially spin-polarized atoms of condensate. The nematic or quadrupolar tensor plays an important role in the experiments of spin-nematic squeezing. We predict the influence of the spin–spin dipole interactions and spin torque force on the dynamics of nematic tensor. The collective modes for phonons and magnons are predicted for the ferromagnetic phase of spinor condensate, where the spin–spin and short-range interactions modify the dispersion equation.

The photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology has flexibility in birefringence, negative dispersion, effective area and nonlinearity and has become a widely studied new fiber. However, there are many problems in the practical application of the sensor, such as complex structure design, not easy to prepare, the low sensitivity of sensing detection, narrow range of refractive index detection of analytes, which greatly limits the application range and functions of PCF sensors. To solve the above problems, this paper adopts a structure with a longer vertical distance between the D-shaped large air hole channel and the core. The energy of the core conduction mode is better limited by the cladding to transmit in the core, and the plasma mode is enhanced, which can effectively increase the wavelength sensitivity. In this paper, the hexagonal double-clad air hole structure and the D-type structure are combined to ensure a simple structure and facilitate manufacturing and production, while the wavelength sensitivity is also greatly improved. The wavelength sensitivity of the dual sample channel can reach up to 16200 nm/RIU and 15800 nm/RIU, which has broad application prospects in the field of high-sensitivity detection.

Exciton–polariton solitons are nonlinear quasiparticles composed of exciton–photon bound states due to the interaction of light with matter. In semiconductor micro-cavity systems, such as semiconductor micro and nanowires, polaritons are characterized by a negative mass which, combined with the repulsive nonlinear exciton–exciton interaction, leads to the generation of bright polariton solitons. In this work, we investigate the dynamics of bright exciton–polariton solitons in a finite-sized microcavity waveguide, assuming radiative losses to be balanced by the external pumping. Bright-soliton solutions to the model equations of motion, which consist of a periodic train of polariton pulses, are obtained in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions. Analytical expressions of the energies of both photonic and excitonic components of the pulse train are found. Results suggest that the size of a nanowire waveguide plays a relevant role in the quantitative estimate of the energy conveyed by polariton solitons propagating in the medium.

We studied the vibration frequencies of small double-clamped silicon nanobeams using a molecular dynamics method. The effects of cross-section area, size, and oxide layer were investigated through simulation. The results show that the vibration frequency decreases with increasing length, whereas it increases slightly with increasing cross-section area of the nanobeam. The existence and thickness of an oxide layer lead to increasing of the vibration frequency of silicon nanobeams.

This work presents an elaborate study of the effect in the structural and magnetic of ${\mathrm{\text{BiFe}}}_{1-x}{\mathrm{\text{Zn}}}_x{\mathrm{\text{O}}}_3$ ($x=0$, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25) multiferroic materials, synthesized via a sol-gel auto-combustion method. The synthesized materials are found to have structural distortion in the rhombohedral R3c structure as observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Other diffraction peaks were attributed to the second phase ${\mathrm{\text{Bi}}}_{25}{\mathrm{\text{FeO}}}_{40}$. The Mossbauer spectra (MS) of ${\mathrm{\text{BiFe}}}_{1-x}{\mathrm{\text{Zn}}}_x{\mathrm{\text{O}}}_3$ ($x=0$, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) are fitted with a sextet and a doublet, and the presence of doublet also indicates the ${\mathrm{\text{Bi}}}_{25}{\mathrm{\text{FeO}}}_{40}$ phase. The results from XRD and MS both show that Zn-substituted BiFeO₃ suffers adverse effects on the formation of pure BiFeO₃. ${\mathrm{\text{BiFe}}}_{1-x}{\mathrm{\text{Zn}}}_x{\mathrm{\text{O}}}_3$ ($x=0.20$, 0.25) are fitted with only one paramagnetic doublet. The absence of sextet means that there is a magnetic destruction of samples on account of a thorough phase transition from a magnetic phase to a non-magnetic phase and/or successful ion substitution (iron ions were replaced with zinc ions).

Self-similarity of complex networks has been discovered and attracted much attention. However, the self-similarity of complex networks was measured by the classical distance of nodes. Recently, a new feature, which is named as degree–degree distance, is used to measure the distance of nodes. In the definition of degree–degree distance, the relationship between two nodes is dependent on degree of nodes. In this paper, we explore the self-similarity of complex networks from the perspective of degree–degree distance. A box-covering algorithm based on degree–degree distance is proposed to calculate the value of dimension of complex networks. Some complex networks are studied, and the results show that these networks have self-similarity from the perspective of degree–degree distance. The proposed method for measuring self-similarity of complex networks is reasonable.
