Using the density functional theory (DFT) computations implemented in WIEN2K package and Boltzmann theory with the BoltzTrap code, we study certain physical properties of a new class of Cu₂SrXSe₄ (X = Ge, Si, Sn) materials. Concretely, we investigate the electronic, the optical and the thermoelectric aspects of such materials from the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) corrected by the Tran Balaha modified Becke–Johnson exchange potential (GGA+TB-mBJ). Analyzing the computed electronic properties, we show the semiconducting nature of these compounds. Precisely, we reveal that these compounds involve an indirect band gap with p type. This electronic aspect is very important for the absorber solar cell layers due to the fact that the length diffusion of the electron is larger than the one of the hole. We find that the obtained gap values of such a new family inspired by CZTS materials can be compared with various absorber layers. For the Cu₂SrSnSe₄ model, we observe similar behaviors compared to the silicon solar cell absorber layers. Using the scalar dielectric function, we investigate the optical properties of the studied materials. Precisely, we obtain that such a family of materials involve higher values of the absorption coefficient in the visible and the ultra violet light spectrum. For each material, we observe that the absorption starts at the corresponding band gap energies. Exploiting Boltzmann theory with the BoltzTrap code, we compute and examine the thermoelectric properties such as the Seebeck coefficient, the thermal conductivity, the electrical conductivity, and the figure of merit as a function of the temperature. As a result, we show that the studied materials involve a high absorption spectra and a good figure of merit (ZT) showing relevant features for photovoltaic and thermoelectric applications.

In this paper, the thermophoretic motion equation based on Korteweg–de Vries is utilized to analyze new complexiton and soliton-like solutions. The homogenous balance approach is employed to generate auto-Bäcklund transformation of the concerned problem. This transformation is capitalized to extract abundant explicit and analytic solutions. Moreover, Hirota bilinear form of the concerned equation is taken under consideration to discover complexiton solutions via extended transform rational function approach. 3D visualization of the acquired solutions is also included to discuss its physical behavior.

Motivated by the expanding interest in complex plasmas, we discuss the equivalent photon charge in dusty electron-ion plasmas. Particularly, we investigate the dusty plasma response in terms of the electron density perturbation driven by electromagnetic waves. The resulting polarization of this plasma medium caused by the photon ponderomotive force of the electromagnetic radiation pressure gives rise to an effective photon electric charge. We determine the acquired photon charge in terms of the involved characteristic parameters. More precisely, here we derive an explicit expression of the photon charge which is found to depend strongly on the free electron density and the photon frequency. Such a photonic charge is relevant for dealing with the photon–plasma couplings in most plasma mediums, namely of the early Universe.

In the field of thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV), experimental methods cannot quantify the relationship between the internal structure and performance of TPV, and are not conducive to the accurate design of TPV structure and performance, which is one of the problems to be solved in this field. In this study, a simple and effective two-dimensional micromechanical model was established based on the real microstructure of TPV by using the micromechanical method and the mechanical properties of TPV with different ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) mass fractions were studied. The results show that with the increase of EPDM content, the maximum stress distribution area of TPV would change, the elastic modulus of TPV would gradually decrease, while the maximum stress of polypropylene (PP) phase would first decrease and then increase and strain corresponding to elastic–plastic change would also increase. The resilience of TPV increases with the increase of EPDM content and decreases with the increase of strain load. When the EPDM content is higher than 70%, the “S” bending deformation would occur at the thinnest part of PP matrix ligament.

In this work, we studied the magnetization and the Cooper pairs density in a conventional superconducting thin square film in the presence of an external magnetic field H. Our investigation was carried out to solve the $p$-wave-two-band Ginzburg–Landau equations (TB-TDGL) considering a topological-type coupling between the bands. We vary the size of the sample $L$, the weighty of the coupling $\gamma$ and the effective Ginzburg–Landau parameter ${\kappa }_{\mathrm{\text{eff}}}$, as a magnetic field function. We found an interesting vortex configuration and the respective generation of vortex clusters due to the coupling used between condensates. A high (weak) dependence of the first (second) critical field on the weight of the coupling is found. We revealed interesting magnetization curves, their dependence with the size of the sample, the relationship with the coherence length and penetration length and finally with the weight of the coupling between the bands ($\gamma$).
