We generalize the descriptions of vortex moduli spaces in [4] to more than one section with adiabatic constant $s$. The moduli space is topologically independent of $s$ but is not compact with respect to $C^{\infty }$ topology. Following [17], we construct a Gromov limit for vortices of fixed energy, and attempt to compactify the moduli space via bubble trees with possibly conical bubbles (or raindrops).

We consider the asymptotic behavior of a system of multi-component trapped bosons, when the total particle number $N$ becomes large. In the dilute regime, when the interaction potentials have the length scale of order $O(N^{-1})$, we show that the leading order of the ground state energy is captured correctly by the Gross–Pitaevskii energy functional and that the many-body ground state fully condensates on the Gross–Pitaevskii minimizers. In the mean-field regime, when the interaction length scale is $O(1)$, we are able to verify Bogoliubov’s approximation and obtain the second order expansion of the ground state energy. While such asymptotic results have several precursors in the literature on one-component condensates, the adaptation to the multi-component setting is non-trivial in various respects and the analysis will be presented in detail.

In the context of the massless Nelson model, we prove that two non-relativistic nucleons interacting with a massless meson field do not bind when a sufficiently strong Coulomb repulsion between the nucleons is added to the Hamiltonian. The result holds for both the renormalized and unrenormalized theories, and can also be applied to the so-called piezoelectric polaron model, which describes an electron interacting with the acoustical vibrational modes of a crystal through the piezoelectric interaction. The result can then be interpreted as well as a no-binding statement about piezoelectric bipolarons. The methods used allow also for a significant reduction of about 30% over previously known no-binding conditions for the optical bipolaron model of H. Fröhlich.

In this paper, we review the basic properties of measures vanishing at infinity and prove a version of the Riemann–Lebesgue lemma for Fourier transformable measures.
