The quality of a software system highly depends on its architectural design. High quality software systems typically apply expert design experience which has been captured as design patterns. As demonstrated solutions to recurring problems, design patterns help to reuse expert experience in software system design. They have been extensively applied in the industry. Mining the instances of design patterns from the source code of software systems can assist in the understanding of the systems and the process of re-engineering them. More importantly, it also helps to trace back to the original design decisions, which are typically missing in legacy systems. This paper presents a review on current techniques and tools for mining design patterns from source code or design of software systems. We classify different approaches and analyze their results in a comparative study. We also examine the disparity of the discovery results of different approaches and analyze possible reasons with some insight.

The changing state of our molecular world involves the making and breaking of bonds. Some researchers make chemical structures, others break them. Both approaches play an important part in the development of new drugs, detectors and materials. However, modern endeavors in research involve understanding and overlapping the interfaces of a myriad of disciplines. No more do scientific pioneers work alone. In this article, we shall give background of our selected scientific endeavors, and briefly show how, within chemistry, we can bond seemingly disparate disciplines together in unexpected ways in a collective attempt to deliver new materials and hybrid systems.

This paper develops a conceptual understanding of how corporate venture managers recognise and discover opportunities in a network environment. In an effort to create a better understanding of who is involved in the process, this paper reports on the development path of several entrepreneurial opportunities of the Danish corporate venture capitalist, Danfoss A/S. This paper distinguishes itself from previous research done on entrepreneurial opportunities by creating a holistic and conceptual framework, which broadens and expands the perception of the market participants involved in processes of recognition and discovery. Consequently the paper offers insight into a diversified group of actors who mix and match technological and market capabilities in a constant process of recognition and discovery.

The joint focus of TSG-46 on mathematics competitions and other challenging activities is devised in recognition of the fact that all students benefit from studying mathematics through challenging activities but some students do not like to compete. This group gathered mathematicians, teachers, mathematics educators and mathematics education researchers and served as a stage for presentations and discussions related to the following themes: (i) Organizational formats for challenging students mathematically, (ii) Research on students’ experiences with mathematically challenging activities, (iii) Characterizing and theorizing mathematical challenge, and (iv) Competition problems as impetus for mathematical research and discoveries.
