This work presents a developed zero-dimensional cardiovascular (CV) system model, based on an electrical analogy, with a detailed compartmental description of the heart and the main vascular circulation which is able to simulate normal and diseased conditions of CV system, especially the stenosis valvular aortic. To know the effect of each parameter on hemodynamics, the number of parameters is increased by adding more segments. The developed model consists of 14 compartments. The results show that the severity of aortic stenosis (AS) effect varies with the effective orifice area and the mean pressure gradient for the case of no AS; the effective orifice area is 4cm² and the mean pressure gradient is 0mmHg, while for the case of mild AS, the effective orifice area is 1.5cm² and the mean pressure gradient is 27.24mmHg. For the case of moderate AS, the effective orifice area is 1.0cm² and the mean pressure gradient is 44.68mmHg. For the case of the severe AS, the effective orifice area is 0.61cm² and the mean pressure gradient is 77.51mmHg. It is found that the developed model can estimate an accurate value of the effective orifice area for any value of mean pressure gradient in AS. The results obtained for the CV system under normal and diseased conditions show a good agreement compared to published results.

Computational chemistry offers variety of tools to study properties of biological macromolecules. These tools vary in terms of levels of details from quantum mechanical treatment to numerous macroscopic approaches. Here, we provide a review of computational chemistry algorithms and tools for modeling the effects of genetic variations and their association with diseases. Particular emphasis is given on modeling the effects of missense mutations on stability, conformational dynamics, binding, hydrogen bond network, salt bridges, and pH-dependent properties of the corresponding macromolecules. It is outlined that the disease may be caused by alteration of one or several of above-mentioned biophysical characteristics, and a successful prediction of pathogenicity requires detailed analysis of how the alterations affect the function of involved macromolecules. The review provides a short list of most commonly used algorithms to predict the molecular effects of mutations as well.

Scaffold proteins are critical regulators of important cell signaling pathways. Though scaffolds are not stringently defined in meaning, they are known to interact with numerous components of a signaling pathway, binding and bridging them into distinct and functional complexes. They control signal transduction and assist the localization of pathway components (organized in complexes) to definite regions of the cell such as the endosomes, plasma membrane, the cytoplasm, mitochondria, Golgi, and the nucleus. Years of research in this field have revealed the versatility of this class of protein and the important role it plays in maintaining the normal functions of the human body. Here, we discuss the role of several scaffold proteins which are implicated in important signaling pathways that play important roles in cardiac diseases, metabolic diseases, neurological disorders, and cancer. Their versatility and functions in human diseases make them attractive drug targets, several of which have been investigated in clinical trials. Future studies of scaffold proteins should give us an in-depth knowledge of how cell signaling works in normal and pathological conditions and would offer avenues to disrupt harmful cellular pathways to circumvent diseases.

Nu Film 17 and Nu Film P are emulsifiable concentrate formulations of a specific ß-pinene polymer, designed for use as a spray tank additive, to be applied in combination with fungicide pest control programs. They are filmforming polymers, which encapsulate the pesticides and provide protection from various weathering factors, including rainfall and wind erosion. It has been found that the use of polymers reduces the quantity of pesticides needed in spray applications. It improves initial depositing of the pesticide so that lower rates of pesticide can be used. It increases the normal life of most pesticides by 50-100%. The experiments were carried out in the nursery on the seddlins Quercus robur L. The trial were set according to the instruction of methods PP 1/152 (2) and PP 1/69 (2). Phytotoxicity was estimated by PP 1/135 (2), the intensity of infection according to Towsend-Hauberger, the efficiency by Abbott, the analysis of variance with Duncan test and PP/181 (2).
