In order to mitigate DFE error propagation to reduce bit error rate (BER), a 25Gb/s Non-Return-To-Zero (NRZ) transceiver including a five-tap decision feedback equalizer (DFE) combined with a dedicated feed forward equalizer (FFE) was first constructed and was found to be helpful in improving signal integrity and reduce errors in high-speed data transmission, which can lead to more reliable and efficient communication. In this transceiver, the effect of multi-tap FFE on error probability with different burst error run lengths was evaluated through a cumulative-probability distribution model. Then, forward error correction (FEC) with different correction capabilities can be also employed to correct burst errors for a better BER performance. Probability-based BER with single/double burst error correcting FEC was derived and a joint optimization of FFE and FEC can be further explored to achieve the target BER. Results show that compared with two-tap FFE, FFE with a post-cursor tap can obtain a BER improvement of 1.5dB at the BER of ${10}^{-7}$, and also enlarge the horizontal opening degree of DFE, which is 0.74 unit interval (UI). Double burst error correcting FEC obtaining 2.2dB coding gain at the BER of ${10}^{-7}$ outperforms single one. When the FEC error correcting capability is 16, the combination of double burst error correcting FEC and three-tap FFE can reduce BER from ${10}^{-9}$ to approximately ${10}^{-12}$. FEC with a larger error correction capability is more likely to achieve the target BER and reduce the complexity of the combination equalizer while ensuring a better equalization performance. The proposed NRZ transceiver, as a part of the physical interface, can be applied to high-speed interconnection scenarios, such as Ethernet, PCIe, and Chiplet.

Over the past few decades, interval arithmetic has been attracting widespread interest from the scientific community. With the expansion of computing power, scientific computing is encountering a noteworthy shift from floating-point arithmetic toward increased use of interval arithmetic. Notwithstanding the significant reliability of interval arithmetic, this paper presents a theoretical inconsistency in a simulation of dynamical systems using a well-known implementation of arithmetic interval. We have observed that two natural interval extensions present an empty intersection during a finite time range, which is contrary to the fundamental theorem of interval analysis. We have proposed a procedure to at least partially overcome this problem, based on the union of the two generated pseudo-orbits. This paper also shows a successful case of interval arithmetic application in the reduction of interval width size on the simulation of discrete map. The implications of our findings on the reliability of scientific computing using interval arithmetic have been properly addressed using two numerical examples.

This paper presents a software reliability growth model framework modeled from a non-homogenous poisson process (NHPP). Invariably, software testing continues to be a paramount measure for validating the standard of software. Test coverage measures appraise and estimate the proportion and gradation of testing in software. Therefore, presenting a correct picture of the test coverage becomes a prime requisite to guarantee software reliability. As an enhancement over the existing models, the proposed model integrates testing coverage (TC), error propagation, and fault withdrawal efficiency while keeping the number of parameters restrained to make the framework more reliable for parameter estimation. A relative analysis to assess the efficacy of the proposed model and some existing models has been carried out on the failure data obtained from three real-world software applications using six comparison criteria. Finally, the weighted criteria rank method has been used to rank the models and assess their performance. In addition, sensitivity analysis has been carried out to demonstrate the effect of the parameters of the proposed model on the mean value function.

An estimated initial stiffness matrix is generally needed to determine the coefficient matrices of quadrature equations for a structure-dependent pseudodynamic algorithm. It is shown herein that an experimentally determined initial stiffness matrix is, in general, close to the true initial stiffness matrix if an imposed displacement is small enough. This case is often encountered in practice. The case where an estimated initial stiffness is different from a true initial stiffness for employing a structure-dependent pseudodynamic algorithm is also explored. The numerical properties and error propagation properties are evaluated as a function of the initial stiffness ratio, which is the ratio of an estimated initial stiffness over a true initial stiffness. In general, accuracy and error propagation properties are insensitive to the initial stiffness ratio. It seems that the change of bifurcation point between unconditional stability and conditional stability is of worth noting. In order to avoid this stability problem, guidelines are recommended if a structure-dependent pseudodynamic algorithm is used.

For video indexing, the problem of video cut detection remains largely an open problem because of the wide nature of transitions that occur in a digital video. This paper describes a shot boundary detection technique, which is an amalgamation of few statistical methods and measures, and robustly detects camera breaks in a full-motion video clip. The proposed algorithm incorporates a weighted histogram, an error-propagation technique for increased robustness, and a curve-fitting technique to extract partitions from the similarity curve for avoiding heuristically chosen threshold value. The algorithm has been validated on many video clips and is shown to give improved results, including for videos with rapid scanning, changes in illumination, fade-ins and fade-outs, and with special effects like dissolve and filters.

Practical applications of the γ-function dissipative explicit method to pseudodynamic tests are thoroughly investigated herein. Detailed implementation of this pseudodynamic algorithm is schematically sketched. Numerical experiments and verification tests strongly indicate that the γ-function dissipative explicit method can effectively filter out the spurious participation of high frequency responses while the lower mode responses can be obtained very accurately. In addition, error propagation analysis also shows that the γ-function dissipative explicit method possesses much better error propagation characteristics when compared to the Newmark explicit method. Thus, this pseudodynamic algorithm is very suitable for the test system where the responses are dominated by the low frequency modes and the high frequency responses are of no interest.

Error propagation for the direct and improved implementations of the subfamily of HHT-α method with favourable numerical dissipation is studied herein for a pseudodynamic test. Analytical results show that the direct implementation of the subfamily of HHT-α method is inappropriate for the pseudodynamic testing although it possesses desired numerical dissipation. However, it is found that the error propagation of high frequency responses can be effectively suppressed by numerical dissipation for the improved implementation of this subfamily of integration methods. Furthermore, the error amplification factor for the improved implementation highly depends on the number of remaining time steps to be performed and the spectral radius of the amplification matrix. In fact, a small spectral radius and/or a large number of remaining time steps will lead to a small error amplification factor. This means an error introduced in an early time step will contribute less to the cumulative error at the end of the test as compared to an error introduced in a later time step.

The planning, scheduling and operation decisions of the power grid depend on the calculation of the simulation model. Parameter errors in the grid model can lead to deviations between simulation calculations and actual grid operation. The strategy based on incorrect calculation data will lead to power outages in the actual power grid, which may cause significant economic losses and personal safety accidents. For the safe operation of power grid, a method for locating the wrong parameters of transmission line based on sensitivity analysis (SA) and deep residual network (DRN) is proposed. By calculating the sensitivity of apparent power to parameter error of each line in the power grid, the propagation characteristics of power flow error are analyzed quantitatively. An error region segmentation method is proposed to reduce the search range of error parameters from large-scale power grids to local networks which can reduce the computational complexity of the search algorithm, and increase accuracy. An error transmission line index for local power grids is proposed to identify error source in local power grids. Then, the specific wrong parameters are identified through the DRN. It can intelligently identify the error parameters from multiple parameters of the error transmission line. The calculation results of the 300-bus system verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method.
